Although it was invented by and American it was manufactured largely in Great Britan and used around the world. It was first used in combat in World War I, and continued in service with a number of armed forces through to the end of the Korean War with with sporadic use even in later conflicts until the end of 20th century. It is visually very distinctive almost iconic, thanks to wide tubular cooling shroud around the barrel and a top-mounted drum-pan magazine. It was commonly used as an aircraft machine gun, almost always with the cooling shroud removed, during both world wars. Out model is made with great technical and factography care to be as much similar to real weapon as possible. Same as the real prototype even poser model can be of great use and service to you. You can use it for any historical base project as well as for fantastic or steampunk oriented works. You can put it into hands of any rendered character to get seriously looking "big gun" prop or mounted to any vehicle from bikes, to cars, planes, airships and so on. Installation Instructions: Poser: Unzip into any poser runtime. You will find the items in Hand, Character, Pose and Props folders named Cybertenko/Lewis Gun. Geometries, Textures and Reflection Maps are stored in respective folders. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: Gun Model is made as fully rigged ERC coded poser figure. All moving parts have set proper dials with limits on, redundant dials are hidden. There are several ERC channels for operating the gun or alternating its look. Basically you can hide magazine, part of cooling shroud or whole shroud, change stock type. Further you can charge the gun and load the bullet, rotate magazine for rapid fire, release both buttstock variants, raise the rear sights and so on. There are several material option for various parts of the gun, you can change the independently to make your own texture variants. Model comes with four action poses for Michael 4 and Victoria 4. For setting the gun for M4/V4 use, load the human figure into scene and the lewis gun figure as well. Be sure you have Lewis gun figure chosen, apply LG in M4 RH pose (or "LG in V4 RH" pose for Victoria 4) for Michael 4. Gun should move to human´s right hand. Then parent (set the figure parent) gun figure to human´s right hand. Choose human figure and apply any of action pose (or any other rifle wielding pose, in such case you may need to adjust right hand pose with provided pose and adjust position of left hand). Model comes further with several smart props, muzzle flash, spent shells, field mount stand, shells deflector sack and spare magazines. Except the magazine all are made as smart prop, so be sure you have gun selected before applying them. There is also vehicle mount figure included, used for mounting the gun to any vehicle you may want. For this, load both figures (gun and mount) to zeroed position and parent the gun to vehicle mount´s clasp bodypart. In this manner you can position the gun in any of three axes: up and down, turn round and tilt up and down.) Then move Vehicle mount figure (with gun parented) to desired place on vehicle of your choice. Model is scaled to poser people, and is sutitable for close-ups as well as for animation or still picture rendering. Model is completely UV mapped. For certain parts of models are provided texture templates, other material zones are textured by procedural materials or by tiled textures and templates are not applicable for them. Tiled textures and procedural materials may need adjustments in DAZ studio, Carrara or other 3d applications. All poser props have extracted geometry to obj. mesh files which you can use for importing to other modeling or rendering application.
