The package contains one .DUF animation scene file and 58 .JPG rendered image examples of the animation output to be used as a seam guide for those unfamiliar or unsure where, exactly, G8F’s seams really are. This is meant as a utility to assist merchants in the creation of character skins and merchant resource textures. Unless you are a character texture creator or have some other need to run a character’s texture through the animation to look for seams, this product will most likely not help you. This product will work for all textures using the base G8F UVs. It will also automatically work with all textures for any custom UV built using G8F as the base (see below). A distant light is included in the .DUF file for initial visibility, but it is STRONGLY recommended that the user replace it with the lights / sets of their choice that will work best with the textures being tested. This product is sold as is. All sales are final (no refunds). -- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS -- MAC or PC This animation was created using DS4.9.4.117. There is no guarantee it will work in previous versions of the software. This will NOT work in Poser. -- NEEDED FILES -- In order to use this animation, the user must have the Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials installed. To test textures for various characters that use custom UVs (e.g.: V8), the user must own and have the appropriate character / UVs installed. -- USAGE TIPS / LIMITATIONS -- You are free to use this package to test for seams on your characters. You may NOT redistribute the contents of this package for any reason (be it free or for sale). -- INSTALLATION -- Extract the contents of the zip file to a place on your hard drive that you have easy access to. These files DO NOT have to go in any particular location. -- SPECIAL NOTES -- This package was intended for use with G8F in DS 4.9.4.117 or later. Use in previous versions of DAZ Studio may work, but it is not supported. The length of time the animation takes to render all frames is dependent on a combination of the lighting, your computer specs, the render settings, and the character textures used. There are 58 frames in this animation. Image file output is 1500 px X 1500 px. Plan your render times accordingly. A basic 3Delight distant light is included for visibility only. This animation will work in both 3Delight and Iray, but it is the user’s responsibility to load the desired lights in the first frame of the animation to meet the testing requirements. Clean, bright, white lights are recommended for best results. It is not necessary to load a specific character morph when testing seams in DS. Applying a character morph will change the position of G8F and the animation may not work as expected (so don’t load the morph… just load the skin texture). Simply apply the skin you are testing to the G8F that loads into the scene in the .duf file. DS should automatically set the UVs to the appropriate character (assuming you have that character installed correctly on your system). When the .duf scene loads, DO NOT change the the position of the camera or any of the parameters in the loaded G8F. If you do so, the animation may not render correctly. Only load the skin to be tested onto the G8F in the scene. I have provided a series of images using white MATs and black seams to illustrate exactly where the seams should be for the G8F figure. Please use these as a guide until you are comfortable with where, exactly, to look for the seams. -- USAGE INSTRUCTIONS -- 1. Open DS to a new, blank scene 2. In the File Menu, select Open (CTRL + O on Windows and Command + O on Mac) 3. Navigate to the location you unzipped the !G8F_SeamTest_v1.duf file and select it 4. Click Open 5. The .duf scene file will open with G8F, a SeamTest_Camera, and the DS Testing Lights already loaded into the scene. Adjustment to the lights will be necessary depending on the skin texture being tested (this is normal). 6. Basic render settings are already set for 3Delight and should load automatically when the .duf is loaded. However, since render settings can affect computer performance, please double check that they will work within your computer’s performance specs and adjust them as needed. The settings may also be changed if rending in Iray (no Iray render settings are provided in this package). 7. In the Render Settings > General settings, enter a name for the image series in the “Series Base” field. The image type is already set to .jpg. For example, if I am testing the “Bree” character skin, I might set the name to something like “G8F_SeamTest_Bree_”. What you actually enter here is up to you. DS will automatically append the frame number to the end of whatever name you enter (so the final name in the example would be “G8F_SeamTest_Bree_00.jpg” for the first frame). 8. In the Render Settings > General settings, enter a location to save the image series to in the “Series Path” field. This can be any location on your computer. 9. Click Render. DS will automatically render each frame in the animation and save it as described in Steps 7 and 8. ********************************************************************************************* -- FILE LIST -- ..\DS_G8F_SeamTest\ !G8F_SeamTest_v1.duf !G8F_SeamTest_v1.duf.png ..\DS_G8F_SeamTest\Documentation G8F_SeamTest_ReadMe.txt License.txt ..\DS_G8F_SeamTest\G8F_SeamTest_Examples G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_00.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_01.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_02.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_03.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_04.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_05.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_06.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_07.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_08.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_09.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_10.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_11.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_12.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_13.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_14.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_15.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_16.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_17.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_18.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_19.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_20.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_21.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_22.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_23.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_24.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_25.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_26.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_27.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_28.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_29.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_30.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_31.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_32.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_33.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_34.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_35.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_36.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_37.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_38.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_39.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_40.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_41.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_42.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_43.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_44.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_45.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_46.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_47.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_48.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_49.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_50.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_51.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_52.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_53.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_54.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_55.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_56.jpg G8F_SeamTest_Examples_v1_57.jpg *********************************************************************************************
