--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "COOK'S RIVER QUEEN WITH BOW WAVE AND STERN WAKE", by FORESTER All copyrights to this product reserved by FORESTER - JUly 2018 Ownership statement: All of the content in this package was created by Forester ================================================================ Included in this package: A model of the River Queen boat, designed to resemble the "African Queen" of the 1977 movie by the same name. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_African_Queen_(film) ] The River Queen comes with bow wave, stern wake, three sections of a typical river through a jungle, and separable fittings for the boat * The River Queen boat has a steam engine, awnings and poles, life rings and a gaff pole that can be separated from the boat hull to make different kinds of scenes. For example, "The African Queen" has Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hebpurn sailing in a boat without an awning for most of the movie. * Bow Wave (with reference picture showing normal position of the bow wave against the hull). * Side and stern Wakes. * One straight section of a turbulent river. * One section of a turbulent river curving around a left bend at the top. * One section of a turbulent river curving around a right bend at the top. REQUIREMENTS: Vue Version 9 or later. INSTALLATION AND TIPS: All the materials and objects are included within the *.vob file. "Load" or "Import" the *.vob file into Vue. This complex model set will load into Vue below the ground plane by design. Determine if you wish to use the straight river section, or a section with a bend for your scene, or none of the the alternative river sections. (You might be making a scene where the River Queen is tied up alongside a dock, for example. In this case, don't use any of the turbulent river sections.) When you have made your selection, ungroup the river sections you don't wish for your scene. Then lift all the boat pieces and any remaining river section above the ground plane. Finally, select "Edit" from the top line menu, and select the "Drop Objects" option to place the objects in the file on the floor of the ground plane. You can position the boat anywhere you like in a river section. If you change the boat's position, remember to group the bow wave, side wake and stern wake models with the boat before moving, if they are not already grouped for you. If you re-position the boat, you may need to adjust the placement of the the bow wave or stern wake relative to the level of the river against the boat. One reference picture in the zip file shows you where the river height is generally expected to be against the boat. In general, the propeller of this kind of old river boat generally protrudes above the level of the river by about 20-25 percent. If your scene makes use of a lot of vegetation along the river banks, you might wish to use one of the river sections that has a bend at the top. This is used where you want the river to curve around a bend, creating a more intimate, close-view scene and reducing the need to have a lot of vegetation against an infinite horizon. Alternatively, you might want to position the River Queen against a dock or holding still in a river or lake, perhaps tied to a tree along a bank. In this case, you can delete the bow wave and stern wake so that the boat appears to lie still in the water. The River Queen has some separable pieces. You can remove the awning and poles. You might wish to pose characters using the gaff pole to fend off a floating log, or re-position the life rings on the boat. The color of the river water can be changed in the Material Editor, of course, to best suit your scene. If the boat is in the distance, you could replace the dense Foam Material of the Bow Wave and Stern Wakes with a plain bright, shiny white material to reduce render times. To make a river seem deep, move the Ground Plane further below the river section, and perhaps combine this with a duplicate of the river section placed just a little below the top river section.
