--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "SIMPLE OCEAN SURFACES - STANDARD SET", by FORESTER All copyrights to this product reserved by FORESTER - July 2018 Ownership statement: All of the content in this package was created by Forester ================================================================ Included in this package: * IsohedralCrystals.vob (For fun, or to use in experiments with Eco-Painting on a Simple Ocean Surface object.) * SimpleOceanSurface1_WaveDirection45.vob * SimpleOceanSurface2_WaveDir_90.vob * SimpleOceanSurface3_WaveDir_90_MoreChop.vob * SimpleOceanSurface4_WaveDir_90.vob * SimpleOceanSurface5_WaveDir_90.vob REQUIREMENTS: Vue Version 9 or later. INSTALLATION: All the materials and objects are included within the *.vob file. "Load" or "Import" in individual Simple Ocean Surface.vob file into Vue. Then, select "Edit" from the top line menu, and select the "Drop Objects" option to place the objects in the file on the Floor. USAGE AND TIPS: The best way to use these in a scene is to position one of the Simple Ocean Surfaces at a good height above the ground plane, and then eithe change the material of the ground plane to a solid (uniform) color of your choice, or to "Create" an object, a flate Plane above the ground plane and change it's color to a solid color of your choice. The color you assign to the plane will govern the color of the ocean waves in the "Simple Ocean Surface. You can change the color of the water in the Simple Ocean Surface by applying a different water material to it. (This works well when subsituting the green colors of the Tropical or Troubled Green Vue liquids.) But a more precise and effective means of water color control is to change the color of the ground or flat plane object below. You can give the appearence of less or greater depth by two methods. The first method is by lowering the ground plane or flat plane beneath the Simple Ocean Surface. Greater distance between the Simple Ocean Surface and the ground plane gives the appearence of greater depth. This method is good for relatively shallow depths, and provides fine control over the sense of depth. The second method is by making a duplicate of the Simple Ocean Surface, and dropping the duplicate below the original Simple Ocean Surface. That is, by inserting it between the original Simple Ocean Surface and the ground of flat plane object. This gives the appearence of a vast ocean depth below the ocean surface. One of the advantages of using a Simple Ocean Surface is the ability to position an object precisely against a wave. You can position a boat precisely on the rise of a wave, or position a life ring precisely in the depth of a trough. The easiest way to do this is to temporarily assign the Flat Grey Material to the Simple Ocean Surface. This material allows you to see the contours of the Simple Ocean Surface clearly, and makes test renders complete very quickly. When you are satisfied with the placement of your object on the Simple Ocean Surface, simply change the assignment of materials back to Default Water. Each of the Simple Ocean Surfaces is "tilable." To fill the background of a deep ocean scene, duplicate your current Ocean Surface and then slide the duplicate version into the background until the edges match. You can duplicate the Simple Ocean Surfaces as many times as needed to fill the camera view. Finally, you can "paint" on a Simple Ocean Surface if your version of Vue supports the EcoPainter. You can paint foam wakes for boats, foam crests for the tops of nearby waves, seaweed of your choice, debris from a shipwreck, oil slicks, schools of fish, magical stars for a night scene, and any manner of things that might be loaded into the EcoPainter.
