--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "COOK'S CATAMARAN", by FORESTER All copyrights to this product reserved by FORESTER - August 2018 Ownership statement: All of the content in this package was created by Forester ================================================================ Included in this package: * High resolution catamaran (boat) with exposed individual components for pontoon hulls, sails and rudders * High speed catamaran wake for a relatively flat water surface * Reference images for hulls and sails, including a template to make your own sail designs * Instruction image - "Click to rotate to a new hull" REQUIREMENTS: Vue Version 9 or later. All the materials and objects are included within the *.vob file. "Load" or "Import" the *.vob file into Vue. Then, select "Edit" from the top line menu, and select the "Drop Objects" option to place the objects in the file on the Floor. USAGE: Four alternative paint patterns can be assigned to the pontoon hulls. These four patterns are painted onto a single large texture file that is divided into four quadrents. A small version of the hull texture file is displayed in the included image called "Hulls_ReferenceImageOnly." One of the quadrents is mapped onto the hulls, decks and rails at any given time. When you rotate the texture file to another quadrent, using the Material Editor, a different pattern is mapped to the pontoon hulls, or to the pontoon decks, or to the pontoon rails. The Specifically, To change the hull pattern, select one of the three hull components (that is, hulls, decks or rails). Open the Material Editor for that component, locate the two "rotate icons" as shown in the "Instruction-ClickToRotateToNewHull" image. Click on one of these to rotate the hull image to one of the four alternative hull patterns. The pontoon hulls, in the Vue *.vob file are subdivided into "Hulls," "decks" and "rails" components. If you want a consistantly "blue" hull pattern, you need to rotate the hull texture file for the "hulls" to the blue pattern, and also rotate it to the blue pattern for the "decks" and for the "rails." This might seem like a little bit of unnecessary work, but it gives you more flexibility in hull design. For example, you might want to use the blue-and white bottom paint for the bodies of the pontoon hulls, but have the pontoon decks be solid yellow or have the decks be painted with the red-and-white pattern. The Main Sail and the Jib Sale operate in the same way. There are three alternative patterns on a single texture file. But, in this case, the fourth quadrent is reserved for a template, should you wish to paint your own sail design. (In this case, the full-sized "Sails_includedTemplate.jpg" file is attached as a separate item in this package for purposes of letting you edit and paint your own sail image.) Just as in the case of the pontoon hulls, you need to rotate the sail texture file (using the Material Editor) for each sail, for the "Battens" of the Main Sail, and for each sail's "outline edge". (On a catamaran sail, in the real world, the outer edges of each sail are wrapped and sewn over a "rope" to provide some stiffness to the sail. Battens are pieces of thin wood or plastic placed inside batten pockets that extend across the breadth of the main sail to provide stiffness and curvature.) In many cases, you will want to change the color of the rudders to match the colors of the pontoon hulls. The rudders are separate components of the catamaran, and are accessible for this purpose. You are not required to use the provided hull and sail texture files, of course. You can apply any solid color to any piece of the hull and to either the Main Sail or to the Jib sail. TIP: In relatively calm waters, a catamaran does not leave much wake at normal speed, so you might not want to use the option wake provided here. The foam wake included in this package was generated when simulating this catamaran's performance over the water at maxium hull speed in the Realflow software program. So, this wake is most appropriate for scenes where the catamaran is operating at high speed over reasonably calm water.
