--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "ISTAHR_RIVERGROUP", by FORESTER All copyrights to this product reserved by FORESTER - July 2020 Ownership statement:All of the content in this package was created by Forester ================================================================ PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This is another small group of models from the larger Istahr, Ancient Persian City Kitbash Collection. The twenty-eight models in this "River Group" focus on the Polver River and scenes of Istahr that might be made from the river. In this Group, there are two versions of a section of river body. One representation of the Polver river is flowing placidly and has less ripples in it. This section of river will more clearly reflect any images of buildings and boats above the river, especially if the section is scaled to be relatively large. The alternative section of the River has a more visible current. The ripples in the current of water will break-up any reflections of the buildings above it, but will add a greater sense of animation and movement to your scene. These sections of the river body are not seamless, but they can be scaled to be much larger or smaller to fill your camera frame and will still give a good representation of a moving body of river water. Two high resolution wooden boats are included in the package. One is a small dhow with full sail and the other is a river skiff with specialized oar. This kind of oar has a knob on the end of the blade - it is used either for poling along a river bank, or for rowing the boat. (Lower resolution sailing dhows are available for the background - these are found in different Group of objects in the Istahr Kitbash Collection.) This Group also contains several river wall sections and units for the walls that demarcated the city plaza from the river. Among these pieces are a stone dock and a piece with steps leading up from the river to any of the temple buildings. Domed cupolas were often placed on stepped foundations in the rivers, sometimes just for decoration in front of the Zoroastrian temples, and other times as night-time navigation beacons. One of these is in this Group. Because views from the river naturally take in a broader view of the cityscape, this Group has items that extend the city background. There are two additional buildings. One is a temple and the other is a two-story residence with arched walkways along the upper story. There are two open-arched domes: one small and one very large. The narrow arches in these two domes and the arches in the two-story residence building have the same shapes. You can create a scene where the dome arches are "echoed" in or are "complementary to" the arches in the lower residence building. (This scene-building technique is illustrated in the product picture focused on the River Cupola.) Other items in this Group that help to fill out the background cityscape are two dome cylinders with somewhat darker hues than those found in other parts of the kitbash collection, a set of alcove background walls, and ten different medium-resolution date palm trees with lower polygon counts than those in othe Groups. INCLUDED IN THIS PRODUCT: The twenty-nine models in the River Group are listed below. * Placid Section Of Polver River, This mesh model of the river has built-in caustics. It is not seamless, but it can be rescaled to be quite large or quite small and still give the appearence of a placid body of water. * Stronger Current Section Of Polver River, This mesh model of the river also has built-in caustics. It, too, is not seamless, but it can be rescaled to be quite large or quite small and still give the appearence of a body of water with flowing current typical of a large river. * River Skiff With Poling Oar, * Small Sailing Dhow, * Single Section Of River Wall, * Four Unit Section Of River Wall, * Assembled Unit Of River Wall - Steps Up To Temple, * Assembled Unit Of River Wall - Stone Dock, * River Cupola With Fire Urn And Flames, * Modified Taj Building, * Two-Story Arched Residence Building, * Dome - Small Arched Dome With Classic Blue-White-Circle Persian Tiles, * Dome - Very Large Arched Dome, * Dome - Dark Bronze Fluted Qubba, * Dome - Dark Blue Hexagon Tiled, * Background Walls Set - Irwan ("Alcove") Type, * Medium Resolution Date Palms #1 through #10, These are intended for middle-ground and background views. There are sufficient numbers of different trees to provide a natural sense of variation. * Simple Human Figure The purpose of this figure is to provide a scale reference - that is, to help scale the buildings, boats and other objects to an an appropriate size. An image of this figure posed at the door to the Fire Temple building is provided (in this Documents Folder) to illustrate the recommended scale of most of the buildings. The steps of the River Cupola, and the steps of the River Wall sections are sized to the feet of this reference figure. * Three Candle Flames For utility use in lamps or other objects Because of the large number of models and textures, the models are organized into two zip files. They are labeled as shown below, and their contents are as follows. Istahr_RiverGroup_RiverComponents - THIS ZIP FILE Contains the Placid and Moving Current Riverbody sections, the skiff, the small dhow, the various sections of river wall, the stone dock assembly, the steps up to the temple assembly and the River Cupola. Istahr_RiverGroup_BackgroundElements Contains the Modified Taj Building, Teo Two-Story Arched Residence, the four domes, the background wall set, the medium-resolution date palm trees, the simple human reference figure and the set of candle flames. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Any application capable of importing and display models in the *.obj file format. INSTALLATION: When unpacked, the models in this group and the materials for them will occupy approximately 159 MB of disk space. You should create a directory (file folder) for the Istahr models, and then unzip each of the zip files into it. To preserve the integrity of each model and allow you to unzip only the models you wish, each zip file has all the materials belonging to each of the models within it. However, most of the buildings have some of the same materials. Therefore, when you extract the contents of these three zip files into a single folder, you may receive a message from your computer stating that some of the materials already exist in the folder, and asking if you want to "skip" or "replace" or "ignore" the duplicate materials. You can select any of these options, although choosing to "skip" the duplicate materials may make for the best solution. USAGE TIPS: All these models are in *.obj file format and have materials made up of a Base Color Map, a Normal Map and a Specular Map. The *.obj file format does not carry material information needed to make good glass, water or metal, and carries only limited information about light emission maps. Most modern rendering engines have their own specialized shaders for glass, water and metals, and some have shaders for candle flames or lights. To make more accurate renders of the models in this Group, you should replace the glass and water materials on these models with the appropriate shaders in your own rendering engine. If your rendering engine has a "pure gold" shader, you will want to replace the material used here with that, as well. For metals, you may want to replace three commonly used on these models. The commonly metals here are "Dark Antique Bronze," "Light Antique Bronze," and "Oxidized Gold." If your rendering engine allows creation of metal materials using standard PBR Maps, you can achieve the best results by using the "base_color..." maps in this package in creation of your own metal materials. If your rendering engine can create shaders using Substance Designer or Substance Painter PBR maps, you will find the full suite of PBR maps for the metals, river water and flames included in these zip files. If you would like the full suite of PBR maps for any of the other materials in this Kitbash Collection, please send me a "SiteMail" message on Renderosity, and I will be happy to provide you with the full suite of Substance maps for all the metals used on these models.
