Needed Files List and System Required:

Poser 8 or later.

A minimum of 4Gb of RAM if you want to load the vehicle and a crew and other
props.  More is better.  The product should work in Poser 6 or later but no
support is available for versions before Poser 8.

Ownership statement: All of this product's content was created by The Fire
Angel.

Poser 8 plus the BB-Edit Lite text editor were used to create the Poser format
files.  PhotoShop CS3 was used for all texturing.

Blender 3D was used for all the 3D modelling.

All source files have been kept in case proof of copyright is needed, including
a Blender construction history for the 3D elements.

Detailed Installation Instructions

Extract the zip-archive with your zip program: - Open WinZip and press the
button "Extract"  In the window "Folders/drives", select the folder that contain
your Poser program. (for example c:\program files\Poser8\). - The check box "Use
Folder names" must be marked. That way, all files will placed in the correct
path.

Conversion and/or application instructions

Mac users will need to install using a manual method or an Applescript known as
"Merge Folders"; Google or another search engine will help you find it; make
sure you get version 1.1 or later.

1. Usage Tips/Limitations

1.1. 8k Textures (8192x8192 pixels) vs 4k textures (4096x4096 pixels).

When using the model I suggest setting up a scene using the 4k texture versions,
even if you want a close up.  A test render will show if you need to load the 8k
textures.  Obviously the 8k textures take a lot more memory, and are applied to
the bodywork only; the remaining textures range from 128x128 pixels to 4096x4096
even with the 8k MATs.  Many materials are textured using tiling textures so
they are equivalent to 8k or higher.

1.2 Tyre deformer dials.

I recommend spending some time in side view with just the FireBlade loaded,
playing around with the tyre deformer dials so you develop a full understanding
of what they do.  The flat spot at the base of the tyre when they are dialled in
does not move as the wheels rotate, so animators can also use this feature.  By
setting an individual dial to a negative value you can unflatten one tyre (or
several) if you need to when showing the vehicle traversing extreme terrain. You
can also tilt the tyre deformers to a limited degree to show the vehicle
climbing over rocks etc.

1.3 Dial groups.

Many of the dial groups in the FireBlade are collapsed by default.  This is to
help avoid dial clutter.  Open the groups you are using by clicking the tiny "+"
icon, and then the "-' icon to close the group again.

These dials are null morphs that control the Poser body parts of the FireBlade
using ERC code embedded in the character file using a text editor.  If you want
to save poses for the FireBlade that respect these dial settings then save poses
with morph settings included in the pose: there is detailed information about
this in the Poser manual.

1.4.  Free add-ons.

Check the free stuff; there will be free texture packs for the FireBlade within
a month of release; more may arrive at irregular intervals.  You can sign up to
be a follower of mine on Renderosity if you want automatic notifications when
these are posted.

2. What is supplied:

2.1. The FireBlade Vehicle.

There are two versions of the FireBlade supplied.  One has camera turrets, the
other has 20mm gun turrets which are also equipped with cameras.  The rooftop
platform is a conforming figure so you can use it if you want or use the vehicle
without it.

The FireBlade is highly posable with moving suspension, working steering,
working elevators for boarding and accessing the roof and deforming tyres to
give an impression of weight.  All the external and internal doors open.  To
make the model easier to use the separate body parts are coded not to be
selected with the mouse; instead click on the MainHull body part and use the
dial groups there.  Having most of the controls in one place really helps when
setting up complex poses.

2.2. The Roof Platform.

This is a conforming figure that conforms to the FireBlade to provide a storage,
viewing or dining area, depending upon what the FireBlade is being used for.  It
is strongly suggested that your Poser people don't store ammunition up there as
it makes a great target for anyone who wants to wreck the vehicle.  It does make
a great place to have lunch when the FireBlade is being used as a mobile home.

There are a number of MAT poses provided that change the platform handrail
colour to match the main vehicle if you want to use the platform with the
military version.

2.3 The Drones.

These fit neatly on the drone pad on the roof and inside the drone hangar (also
on the roof of course).  One is a fan powered drone the other has rocket
exhausts so it can be used if the FireBlade crew are exploring a world without
enough atmosphere for fans to work.  Both versions can tilt their fans/engines
in the same way for higher speed in level flight.  Most of the dials are the
same in both drones so learning to pose them efficiently is quicker and easier.
The rocket drone naturally has the fan control dials missing.

The landing gear dial opens the gear doors and then lowers the gear in a smooth
sequence, so you don't need separate dials to control it.  The landing gear dial that steers the tail wheel only works when the gear is fully lowered; this prevents the wheel poking through the door when the gear is raised.

2.4 The Drone Gun Turret.

This is a conforming figure that can be conformed to either version of the
drone. It turns the sensor pod under the nose into a combined sensor and gun
turret.  There are dials in it to change the rotation and elevation of the gun.

3. MAT Poses.

3.1.  A large number of MAT poses are suppplied in the folder "FA FireBlade
MATs". Most of these set all the materials of the FireBlade for ease of use. The
tyre materials allow you to add some finishing touches to images, by making sure
the appropriate wear or dust colour is present on the tyres.  Most of the tyre
MATs change all the tyres, but you can add just one new tyre to the vehicle so
it looks as it might after a tyre change.

3.2.  Light MATs are provided in the separate folder listed, note that these do
not make the lights cast real light into the scene they just make them look as
if they are lit using their Poser material properties.  You can add Poser
spotlights to the scene just in front of the lights, and parent them to the
light so they remain aligned as you move the vehicle or pose the lights.

3.3. Drone MATs are in the appropriate folder; there are paint schemes that
match all the paint schemes for the FireBlade, including camouflage for the
military version.

3.4. Prop MATs are provided for some of the props included.  Note that due to
Poser limitations these won't work on the prop they are made for unless there is
at least one Poser figure loaded in your scene.  The FireBlade is technically a
Poser figure not a prop, so this won't often be a problem.

3.5 Real World Measurements.

Length: 17.91m, 58ft 9 Inches
Width:  7.08m, 23ft 3 inches.
Height: 9.08m, 29ft 9 inches (to top of Drone Hangar)
Height: 9.63m, 31ft 7 inches (if fitted with rooftop platform)

4. Props.

4.1. Multiple Smart-Props.

4.1.1.  Many of the prop sets load a collection of Smart-Props with one click.
These have the number of props written on their icon.  This is to allow you to
load up the FireBlade quickly and easily.  Some are appropriate only if the roof
platform is fitted, so look carefully.

4.1.2.  Special prop groups.

Some of the prop groups are made carefully for scene-building purposes.  They
are listed here with their specific purpose described:

Assorted Cargo 3 on Rear Elevator:  These props load up the rear elevator but
also leave space for a person to ride alongside the cargo.  This could be more
realistic if showing the FireBlade being loaded up.

Roof Platform Assorted Cargo 3:  These props load up the roof platform but leave
space in the middle, placing all the boxes and containers around the edge.  This
allows you to add props of your own in the middle or to show the platform being
used for viewing and for cargo.

4.2. Standalone Props.

Many of the cargo and food props can be useful for many scenes, including scenes
without the FireBlade or the drones.  To make this easier they are provided in
their own folders so they are easy to use separately.

Notice that the saucpan has a morph dial to vary the level inside, from zero
percent to one hundred percent full. In the "Prop MATs' folder there are MATs to
change the type of soup, and of course you can texture it yourself if you want
more variety.

4.3. Crew VR Helmets.

If the FireBlade were real driving it safely could be incredibly difficult.  To
make it safer there are windows in the floor of the control room that provide
the driver with a good view of the front wheels and the area in front of them,
but it would still be a challenge.  Since the vehicle has 8 camera/radar turrets
and would most likely have other sensors too the VR helmet would make it much
easier.  The FireBlade's on board computer could provide the driver and other
crew members with a view straight through the vehicle, as if it were
transparent.  So if the driver looked down he/she would not see the floor of the
control room, but the ground underneath it.  Looking over the shoulder would
reveal the FireBlade's wheels and the scenery behind, not the rear control room
wall.  No blind spots either.

In addition to the visible light picture the computer could overlay laser
rangefinder, infra-red, utltra-violet and radar data on the field of view as
desired by the operator.

A Drone operator could also see through the drone's camera and sensors; very
handy!

For the safest operating experience your FireBlade driver and drone and gun
turret operators should always wear their VR helmets ;-)

4.4. Hands.

For the cooking spatula and cooking fork Smart Props there are hand poses for
Michael 4 and Victoria 4.
