LAMH Lion Material is in \Animals\HiveWireBigCat\Materials\3Delight\Lion\ and \Animals\HiveWireBigCat\Materials\Iray\Lion\ -------------------------------------- Important Notes: DAZ Studio LAMH Presets for The HiveWire Lion, Lioness and Lion Cub. Add some elegant fur to your HiveWire Lion Family scenes with these LAMH (Look at My Hair) presets. These LAMH presets were custom made/optimized for the Lion, Lioness and Lion Cub. They also work with the CWRW White Lion texture set. Below, you will find detailed instructions on how to use this LAMH preset. As with all LAMH presets, it uses a lot of computer resources. If you can use the free presets here at HiveWire for the HW House Cat and HW Big Dog, then this one should work fine for you. What's Included & Features DAZ Studio LAMH Presets (.lmh) Lion Lioness Lion Cub Materials (.duf) Lion LAMH 3DL Lion LAMH IR NOTE! BEST WORKFLOW PRACTICE IS TO FULLY POSE AND TEST YOUR SCENE BEFORE APPLYING LAMH PRESETS. MAKE IT THE LAST THING YOU DO BEFORE RENDERING AS THIS WILL AVOID POSSIBLE DAZ STUDIO CRASHES. Instructions: 1. Select HW Big Cat in Scene Tab. Apply the desired Lion, Lioness or Cougar Cub MATs (For the Lion it is highly recommended for best results to use the included "Lion LAMH" MATs as they are made specifically to work with LAMH for the Lion) and also the Lioness or Lion Cub Full Body Morph (Parameters->Body->Full Body->) as desired. (NOTE- make sure the Mesh Resolution is set to 1 (a higher setting will cause issues). To check the Mesh Resolution, select the HW Big Cat in the Scene Tab. Then go to the Parameter Tab: HW Big Cat -> General-> Mesh Resolution -> Render SubD Level) 2. Pull up the LAMH Free Player window (In the Top Menu select Window-> Panes-> Look at My Hair) 3. Hit the button "Attach Preset" and scroll to where you saved the presets and pick your desired preset. 4. Once the guide hairs are generated, assign a numeric value to number of hairs under "Hair Quantity": (for more close up/head shots go for more hair density, longer camera shots it fine to use less hair density) For the Lion, suggested is Body: 1,200,000 - 1,600,000 Tail: 5,000 Ears: 60,000 Mane: 200,000 (do not use commas in the hair density dialog boxes) For the Lioness, suggested is Body: 1,200,000 - 1,600,000 Ears: 60,000 Tail: 5,000 (do not use commas in the hair density dialog boxes) For the Lion Cub suggested is Body: 600,000 Ears: 40,000 (do not use commas in the hair density dialog boxes) but experiment! Be careful about your computer's memory. You can, but don't need to, change other settings. Less Hair Density works well with full body/longer distance renders. For up close you might want to increase the Hair Density. The next part depends on whether you are using Iray or 3DL, so follow the instructions for the Render Engine you want to use: ****** 3DL: 5. Select the HW Big Cat in the Scene tab. 6. Play with the MAT generated if desired - select, for example, "HiveWireBigCat_Grp_0" in the Scene tab, and then in the Surfaces tab, modify the materials as you want. 7. Render! Also note- when using the full preset, either delete and "turn off" the "Lion Mane" and "Lion Tail" in the Scene Tab, unless you want to use the modeled mane and tail instead of LAMH for those areas. One can use the Lion Elbow Hair if desired/is optional. ****** IRAY: 5. Pose. You must do all your posing, morphing, etc, prior to the next step, as the generated OBJ can not be changed, and you will have to start the LAMH "To OBJ" process over. 6. Click the button "to OBJ". It will suggest a location of the files that will be generated. This step will likely take a decent amount of time, depending on your computer. In testing, average times ran from 5 to 10 minutes. Follow and click the dialog boxes that appear. 7. Once that is generated (a pop up will tell you that it has been generated - in this case there will be two to three of those pop up boxes as there are two to three shavegroups for each preset- one for the body, one for the tail, one for ears and one for mane depending on the preset), in the scene tab, under HiveWire Big Cat LAMH Group, select "HiveWire BigCat_Grp_0", "HiveWire Big Cat_Grp_1", "HiveWire Big Cat_Grp_2" and "HiveWire Big Cat_Grp_3" in the case of the lion. Go to the Surfaces tab, select "HiveWire BigCat_Grp_0", "HiveWire BigCat_Grp_1", "HiveWire Big Cat_Grp_2" and "HiveWire Big Cat_Grp_3" there as well and apply the Iray Uber Base Shader that comes with DAZ Studio (This can be found in Shader Presets>Iray>DAZ Uber) I find it helpful to turn off the visibility of all of the green guide hairs as those won't be used in an iray render/don't render in iray anyway. (Click on the "eye" next to those elements under "Scene" tab to turn them off. 8. Modify the Iray Uber Shader as desired. Suggested settings: - Translucency Weight: 0.02 - 0.1 (You can set it higher and even put the Diffuse Map in the Translucency Color if desired). For the White Lion Mane you may want to increase the translucency as much as .5, depending on your lighting. - Glossy Layered Weight (default is .33) 0.02 to 0.1. If you are getting a lot of undesirable white "fireflies", set to 0. - Glossy Reflectivity: 0- 0.10 depending on lighting. Again depending on lighting you can play with increasing this setting for more "shine". If using strong backlighting, setting to 0 gives best results. Different lights/light set ups may need adjustment from these settings, but they are a good place to start. 9. Render! Also note- when using the full preset, either delete and "turn off" the "Lion Mane" and "Lion Tail" in the Scene Tab, unless you want to use the modeled mane and tail instead of LAMH for those areas. One can use the Lion Elbow Hair if desired/is optional. -------------------------------------- Files Included in the Product: DS Version: \Documentation CWRW Lion Family LAMH Presets ReadMe.txt Renderosity Standard License.txt CWRW_HWBCLion.lmh CWRW_HWBCLioness.lmh CWRW_HWBCLionCub.lmh Animals/HiveWireBigCat/Materials/3Delight/Lion/ Lion LAMH 3DL.duf Lion LAMH 3DL.duf.png Animals/HiveWireBigCat/Materials/Iray/Lion/ Lion LAMH IR.duf Lion LAMH IR.duf.png Runtime/Textures/CWRW/CWRW_HWBigCat/ CWRW_HWLionFUR.jpg
