For use in Daz Studio's Iray renderer Copyright © Feb 2021 L.W. Perkins Email - Contact Renderosity Sitemail via lwperkins _____________________________________________________ These are simple velvet and satin materials designed for Daz Studio Iray render engine--they are very light sensitive so you may need to experiment with lighting set ups for the most flattering results. This is a Merchant Resource for you to use in coloring props and clothing, and as a base for your own fabric creations. (Hint, adding a leather bump map can make a nice leather out of these shaders--bump maps can also make the Pastels look wonderful.) You may distribute your creations from these, so experiment! Please note: The Royal patterns are like a fabric jacquard and depend on the light angle to appear. If you need the pattern to show in all lights, load the Royal Red pattern from the textures folder into the Base Color--you can use Photoshop and use Hue/ Saturation to change the color to what you prefer; or using an image editor, make a new layer and overlay a color of your choice and save as a jpeg. You will have to test it to see if you are getting the color you want. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rendering tips: If you make a new material, be sure that the images that you load have the amount of tiling that you want. Click on the image, look at the top where it says "Image editor" and then choose "instance Tiling" and be sure that all the maps you have loaded into the slots (weight and bump, etc) are set at the same number of tiles. If you put a different bump map into the Top Coat than the one you are using as the general bump, Daz will render it soooo slowly; it really likes having all the shaping maps the same. In general a slow render means you have some conflict in the shader, either in map tiling, or in the Translucency vs Roughness vs Anistropy..try setting things back to zero and added them back in one by one to see what is working. Sometimes a tiny numerical difference makes a big difference in how a shader renders. BE SURE TO SAVE THE SETTING YOU LIKE. (I can't tell you how often I will save a render and forget to save the shader) Metallic flakes--usually smaller is better, around .004 if you are using them to color a design or run along a bump. More roughness means more spread of sparkles, sometimes where you don't want them. "Scatter only" will let you control the color, Scatter and Transmit will have the sparkles be more reflective of the surroundings (which you may not want). If your material is super shiny and your glossiness is at zero, check your flakes--they will shine independent of your Glossy setting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Software/Files needed: Daz Studio, Iray and some patience, a cloth plane or conforming clothes, drapes or any "fabric" prop, especially cushions. The Pearl and Pastels work on walls and furniture wood and metal; the darker velvety colors can make good floor coverings. Pearls will also work on jewelry stones. (Crank up the Translucency or Transparency as needed). They also work as nail polish :D ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unzip--Please point your zip file to My Daz Studio, and unzip to there; it should look like the same folder setup as the file list below. If you have a custom setup, you should place folders by hand, and preserve the folder names and nesting. ___________________________________________________________________ You an use this in personal and commercial products, just please don't redistribute the texture folder pattern designs as a stand-alone merchant resource--put them on clothes and props, or add your own ingredients, and then sell those as texture sets. Thanks! Have fun!
