--------------------------------------------------- Freebie Name: Sci-Fi Hovertank Copyright 2021 Michael Crisafulli Contact Michael_C via Renderosity Site Mail -------------------------------------- Product Description The Sci-Fi Hovertank is inspired by a 1980s plastic model kit and by variations on the model done by talented kit-bashers. The original kit was a remote-controlled or autonomous hovercraft, but as realized here, has a small on-board crew. The Hover Tank 3D model is a fully-rigged Poser figure, sized for Poser people. There are two versions: The basic Polyphemus is named from the scientific name for the Atlantic horseshoe, Limulus polyphemus, because the basic hull of the hovertank resembles the horseshoe's shell, and because the searchlight calls to mind the single eye of the Cyclops Polyphemus of Greek mythology and the Odyssey. The Gepard (German for Cheetah) variation has an alternate turret (based on an actual German tank) with dual antiaircraft guns and an articulated targeting system. FIGUREs The Sci-Fi Hovertank figures have rotating turrets with moving cannon and articulated antennas, directable propulsion blowers, and opening hatches. o Polyphemus o Gepard (compound figure with parented alternate turret figure) The Hover Tank figures have ERC controls at the Body level: o Propulsion Blower Direction o Turn Turret o Elevate Cannon and Guns o Hatches and Driver Viewport open o Antennas rotate and tilt o Polyphemus Searchlight rotates and tilts o Gepard FLIR targeting system rotates and tilts PROPS o Laser Beams smart-parented to the cannon and gun barrels o Pre-loaded dummy interior (for context when hatches are open) o Extra: Adapter for use with Cybertenko Ultimate T-34 turrets POSES o M4 & V4 crew poses o HIDE/SHOW Turret o HIDE/SHOW Railing features o MATs - Searchlight Glow ON/OFF - Four paint sets plus spotted Gepard paint set - Extra: MAT to match T-34 turret LIGHTS o Searchlight parented to Polyphemus Searchlight CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the full Hover Tank - Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras o Individual Dolly camera exterior view and interior views out driver viewport and side hatch. TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. GEOMETRY The figures and props use external geometry in the Poser geometries folder. -------------------------------------- System Requirements: Poser 6 and above, including Poser 11 Tested in DAZ Studio 4.12 (see below) -------------------------------------- Ownership Statement: All of the content in this package was created by Michael Crisafulli (Michael_C) and may include derivatives of the following vendor/merchant resources: One or more textures on this 3D model have been created with images from Textures.com. These images may not be redistributed by default. Please visit www.textures.com for more information. One or more textures use public domain resources from Wikimedia Commons. Several of the paint sets were created using the VamDerLee Camouflage plug-in. -------------------------------------- Notes on the Model The Hover Tank model was inspired 1980s plastic model kit that has been re-released several times over the years, usually called some variation of Nutcracker, by different manufacturers. I used detailed images from kit reviews as a guide and drew on images from several kit-basher blogs that documented their customizations as inspiration for some additional features. -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip files to your main Poser directory, being sure to check "Use Folder Names" and the files will unpack to their proper location. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/Hover Tank" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The Hover Tank figures use ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use it. Polyphemus Figure ----------------- Transform These standard dials control rotation and position of the figure. Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Control Blower Direction – Rotates the five blowers on the underside of the Hovertank Turn Turret – Rotates the turret Cannon Elevation – Tilts the laser cannon on the side of the turret up and down Hatches Open Turret Hatch atop the turret Open Side Hatch on the side of the shell Open Driver Hatch atop the driver compartment on the front of the shell Open Driver Viewport on the front of the driver compartment Equipment These controls tilt and rotate the turret-mounted equipment: Searchlight, Omni antenna, Dish antenna Miscel Lift the radiator mechanism over the equipment atop the rear shell Spin the two fans on the rear sides of the shell Gepard Figure ------------- This is a compound figure consisting of the Gepard shell (with turret hidden) and the child Alt-Turret figure. Although the Turn Turret control still works, none of the other Gepard figure turret controls have any function. All the other parameters work as for Polyphemus above. Select the Alt-Turret figure for turret control. Control Turn Turret – Rotates the turret Gun Elevation – Tilts the twin anti-aircraft guns up and down Equipment Open Turret Hatch atop the turret Rotate FLIR – Rotate the targeting optics ball on the front of the turret Tilt FLIR Rotate Radar Antenna – Rotate the dish atop the mast Tilt Radar Antenna – Tilt the mast forward and back POSES Crew Poses for M4 and V4. The hatch and driver poses are intended for external views and have little relationship to the dummy interior. All poses are for the Hovertank figures in the as-loaded positions. Extra These poses are for use with Cybertenko's Ultimate T-34 Turret figures, separately available in the Marketplace. See the special instructions below. MATs Default MATS restore the material sets to their as-loaded configuration. Searchlight ON/OFF – Turn the Searchlight Ambient (glow) channel on and off. (This is un-related to an actual light – see LIGHT category below.) Paint MATs MAT poses for four paint schemes and the Gepard spotted paint set for Hovertank and Alternate Turret. (There are no Gepard materials for the basic Polyphemus turret.) Railings HIDE/SHOW – Hide the railings and some related equipment on the shell for a slightly different look. Turret HIDE/SHOW – Hide the Polyphemus turret for Hovertank use with other tank turrets PROPS (All props are smart. Be sure the appropriate figure is selected when loading these props.) Gepard Laser Beams - parented to the Alt-Turret Guns Polyphemus Laser Beam – parent to the Polyphemus laser cannon (Use the Beam Length control to extend a beam out of your scene field of view or to end it at a target) Extra T-34 Turret Adapter – See special instructions below Pre-Loaded The Dummy Interior is preloaded with the Polyphemus and Gepard figures. LIGHTS Searchlight – a spotlight parented to the Polyphemus searchlight. Select the Polyphemus figure before ADDing this light. (Simply applying the light will replace all the other lights in the scene.) Note that the Searchlight ON/OFF pose affects only the material glow channel and does not affect this light which is controlled form its properties dialog. CAMERAS Tank Set - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete Hover Tank figure in its default loaded position. Dolly CAMs The Exterior CAMs provide selected close-up views of the Hover Tank. The Interior CAMs provide a driver's view through the viewport and a view looking out the side hatch. **** **** *** Instructions for using Cybertenko's Ultimate T-34 Turrets *** **** **** With the Hovertank figure selected: 1. Apply Hover Tank/Turret HIDE pose 2. Apply Hover Tank/Extra/1 Hovertank T-34 MAT-MOR pose 3. Hover Tank/Extra/T-34 Turret Adapter prop 4. Load one of Cybertenko's Ultimate T-34 Turrets and attach a gun following Cybertenko's instructions. (Use Cybertenko's Set-up pose on the gun, if necessary.) 5. With T-34 turret selected, apply Hover Tank/Extra/2 T-34 Reposition pose 6. Parent the T-34 turret to the Hovertank Shell The Hovertank T-34 MAT-MOR pose textures the Hovertank shell to match the T-34 turret material. You can reapply one of the four paint schemes in the Paint MATs folder to the Hovertank. These will also change the adapter material. There are MAT poses in the Extra subfolder to apply simple materials that match the four Hover Tank paint schemes to the T-34 turret and gun. Note that these simple MAT poses wipe out the other nodes in Cypertenko's shader. You can use the following procedure to retain the rest of the original shader for better render results. With the T-34 Turret (and then the Tank Gun) figure selected, go to the Material room tab. Select the Advance tab for the "turret" material and expand the Diffuse_Color (Color for PBR) Image_Map dialog. Click the Image_souce line to show Cybertenko's jpg. Click the Browse... button, navigate to the Runtime\textures\MCC\Hovertank folder and select one of the MC-HT-T34- jpgs (1, 2, 3 and 4 correspond to the Hover Tank paint schemes). When you click OK, the turret color will match the corresponding Hover Tank scheme but the other nodes of the shader will be unchanged. Do the same for the Gun "gun" material. **** **** ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility - Tested in DAZ Studio 4.12 to the extent that parameter controls work as intended, poses apply correctly (see below for exceptions), and figures render satisfactorily. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The Hover Tank figures load, operate, and render in DAZ Studio. There are some incompatibilities as noted below. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work. Those that work may require adjustment. In Poser the pose files automatically affect attached props. In DAZ Studio, individual props must be selected and the pose re-applied to make the changes to the props. (This is most obvious with Turret HIDE pose. The dummy turret interior remains visible and must be selected to hide.) The Searchlight light does not parent to the searchlight; it must be parented manually. --------------------------------------------------- List of files contained within this product's zip files. :Documentation:Michael_C SciFi_Hovertank_ReadMe.txt Marketplace_Standard_License.txt :Runtime:Geometries:MCC:Hovertank AltTurretFinalUV1-P.obj Interior3UV-P.obj LP-Hovertank1-P.obj LaserBeam-P.obj T-34AdapterUV2P.obj TurretInteriorUV-P.obj :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Hover Tank Tank Set.cm2 Tank Set.png :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Hover Tank:Dolly CAMs:Exterior Driver Compartment 1.cm2 Driver Compartment 1.png Driver Compartment 2.cm2 Driver Compartment 2.png Side Hatch.cm2 Side Hatch.png Turret Hatch.cm2 Turret Hatch.png :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Hover Tank:Dolly CAMs:Interior Driver View.cm2 Driver View.png Side Hatch View.cm2 Side Hatch View.png :Runtime:libraries:Character:Michael_C:Hover Tank Gepard.cr2 Gepard.png Polyphemus.cr2 Polyphemus.png :Runtime:libraries:Character:Michael_C:Hover Tank:Pre-Loaded Alternate Turret.cr2 Alternate Turret.png :Runtime:libraries:Light:Michael_C:Hover Tank !
