--------------------------------------------------- Product Name: XP-55 Ascender Copyright 2022 Michael Crisafulli Contact Michael_C via Renderosity Site Mail -------------------------------------- Product Description The Curtiss XP-55 Ascender experimental fighter was developed toward the end of World War II. It had a pusher propeller, highly swept-back wings with rudders near their tips, and a large canard-form elevator on the nose. Its odd configuration gave the initial impression that it flew backwards. Three prototypes were built and flown, one of which still exists. Unfortunately, the design had serious low speed control deficiencies and was ultimately unsuccessful. The XP-55 3D model is a fully-rigged Poser figure, sized for Poser people. Although designed for Poser, it is fully compatible with DAZ Studio (see notes below). FIGURE The fully rigged and poseable XP-55 figure has ERC controls at the Body level that, among other things: o Move the wing, elevator, and rudder surfaces coordinated with the pilot controls. o Raise and lower the landing gear. o Open the canopy and side windows. PROPS o Spinning (blurred) propeller o Parachute seat o Cockpit ladder (pre-loaded) POSES o M4 & V4 pilot poses o MAT for 278847 S/N o MATS for navigation lights glow CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the full XP-55 Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras o Dolly Camera settings for cockpit interior and exterior views LIGHTS o Simple Sun and Moonlight sets o Nose light parented to airframe TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/Ascender" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The XP-55 figure uses ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use its dials. Transform These standard dials control rotation and position of the XP-55 aircraft figure. Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Yaw, Pitch and Roll – Aircraft terms for rotation in Y, X, and Z axes. Control Pitch Stick – The control stick moves forward and back in concert with the nose-mounted elevator. Roll Stick – The stick moves left and right in coordination with the ailerons. Rudder – The pedals move coordinated with the wing-mounted rudders. Spin Propeller – Self explanatory. Landing Gear Raise Gear – The forward gear doors open, all gear retract and the doors close in sequence. Taxi Position – The nose is raised a little and the forward gear compressed so all wheels are flat on the ground. Nose Wheel Steer – The nose wheels turns left and right. Spin Wheels – The three wheels spin together (being smaller, the nose wheel spins faster). Canopy Unlatch & Open Canopy – The latch turns and the canopy opens in sequence. Open Left (Right) Window – The small windows on the canopy slide open separately. Misc Controls There are a number of small controls in the cockpit that are not coordinated with anything else. This parameter set changes these controls individually. Misc Open Cooling Gills – This control opens and closes the vents/vanes around the base of the propeller. The pilot seat can be adjusted forward and back and up and down. POSES Pilot Poses for M4 and V4. The two Pilot poses are for the XP-55 figure in the as-loaded position. Parent the pilot to the XP-55 figure airframe before moving the XP-55 or changing to Taxi Position. The On-ladder poses are for the XP-55 in Taxi Position. Pose adjustment may be required depending on the figure clothing. HIDE-SHOW Propeller – Hide when using the Spinning Propeller prop. Stowed Ladder – Hide when using the Deployed Ladder prop MATs A Default MAT pose is provided. A Mat pose is priced to change the aircraft number. MAT poses to turn light glow on and off Wing Lights ON – Red and green wingtip navigation lights Nose Light ON – Searchlight in nose Lights OFF – All glow turned OFF PROPS Parachute Seat – The XP-55 pilot would have used a seat parachute attached to his harness, but hanging behind him so he sat on it. This prop, parented to the seat, represents the pack of such a parachute. Spinning Propeller – Parented to the propeller this simulates propeller blur. Ladder (These props are parented to the Airframe.) Ladder Deployed – A ladder prop expanded and mounted outside the cockpit. Ladder Stowed – A ladder prop un-telescoped and mounted behind the seat. CAMERAS XP-55 Set - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete XP-55 figure in its default loaded position. Note that adjustments may be necessary depending on your document window setup. Dolly CAMs Three cockpit interior and four exterior cockpit Dolly cameras are included. LIGHTS Simple Daylight and Moonlight sets with included IBLs. Nose Light – Spotlight attached to nose (This light must be ADDED to the scene.) ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility - Tested in DAZ Studio 4.15 to the extent that parameter controls work as intended and the figure renders satisfactorily. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The XP-55 figure loads, operates, and renders in DAZ Studio. There are some incompatibilities as noted below. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work. Those that work may require adjustment. In Poser the pose files automatically affect attached props.
