Suds2, Copyright PixelDust1 June 2, 2023 Vendor name: PixelDust1 Product description: This new generation of 3D foam bubbles or suds was made to add that final detail of realism to your scenes. Many existing props represent foam bubbles as textures or models with limited geometry. However, in many situations, only the full 3D geometry of the bubbles will convey the true atmosphere of a scene. The Suds2 product was developed as an extension of our existing Suds product, however with full 3D geometry of a volume of bubbles. These models have a highly detailed geometry without the use of textures or other shortcuts. There are twelve different props in this set. The models represent bubbles formed in cylindrical objects (glasses, bottles), rectangular objects (pans, dishes), blocks and sheets of bubbles or even spherical volumes. Since some models are quite large, please read the usage tips to take full advantage of these bubbly companions. I hope these new prop models will add a splash of fun to your scenes. Happy rendering! System requirements: PC and DAZ Studio 4.15 and newer Needed files: No other files/products needed. Installation instructions: Unzip the downloaded product zip file(s) into your data, Documentation, Props and Runtime directory/folder, as applicable. Usage tips/limitations: Each of the twelve suds props in this series can be found under “Props\PD1\Suds2” in the library where you have installed the product. Clicking on any of the props located in this folder will load a Suds2 prop with an Iray\Liquids\Water – Thin shader already set up representing soap bubbles as one can do best in DAZ Studio. However, due to an occasional rendering artifact, I strongly recommend reducing the Cutout Opacity parameter from its default of 1.0 to about 0.6 to avoid darkening the interior of some bubbles. Although unsure of the exact cause, this adjustment seems to avoid the issue. Perhaps, Iray internally limits the number of reflections/refractions and returns black as the terminal value. Another situation can occur infrequently if the transparent bubbles are placed such that their bottom flat surface coincides with another object’s geometry, resulting in a rendering artifact. In this case, just move the bubbles away from the other surface by a small amount (0.001) and the issue is gone. Also note that the suds props do not contain texture coordinates since their usage was envisioned to represent 3D volumetric materials (liquids like water, lava, or molten metals). Some models are quite large in the sense that they will take time to load, but you will be rewarded with the most detailed bubbles or suds ever! You can combine multiple props in the same scene allowing infinite combinations to enhance your bubbly scenes. Complete list of morphs: Not applicable.
