The motor of the Hélica was not connected to the wheels but powered a large propeller mounted in front. In 1927 a Hélica reached a speed of 106 mph. The Leyat Helica 3D model is a fully-rigged Poser figure, sized for Poser people. Although designed for Poser, it is compatible with DAZ Studio (see notes below). FIGURE The poseable Helica figure has ERC controls at the Body level that, among other things: o Steer the rear wheels in concert with the steering wheel o Operate the foot or hand brake in concert with the brake linkage o Open the driver and passenger doors o more PROPS o Propeller blur o License plates o Headlight and taillight POSES o M4 and V4 driver and passenger poses MATs o Alternate paint scheme o Worn paint o Head and taillight glow ON/OFF CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the full bomber figure. Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras. o Dolly Camera settings for several interior and exterior views LIGHTS o Headlight TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. Public domain graphics from Wikimedia. -------------------------------------- Notes on the Model I've based the design on numerous modern photos of Helicas in museums, some that are still road-worthy or restored to functionality, some historical photos and videos, and Leyat's original patent.  Leyat built several versions of the Helica, including open top sport cars and enclosed sedans.  He built as many as 50 and sold 23 of them.  My implementation takes features from several of the cars so it's true to the design but doesn't represent any one car.  I've also taken some liberties with some of the mechanical elements such as the steering and brake cable mechanisms. -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip files to your main Poser directory, being sure to check "Use Folder Names" and the files will unpack to their proper location. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/Helica" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The Helica figure uses ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use its dials. Transform Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Other standard dials control rotation and position of the HELICA aircraft figure. Control Brake – Moves the footbrake coordinated with the mechanical brake linkage Hand Brake – Moves the handbrake coordinated with the mechanical brake linkage mount Steer – Moves steering wheel and steers the rear wheels together Throttle – Moves the dashboard throttle lever Doors Open the driver and passenger doors separately. The passenger door unlatches first. Other Pull Starter – Pull the starter cord Spin the propeller Spin the wheels PROPS o Propeller Blur – The propeller should be hidden first The next props load as a set o License Plates o Headlight and taillight POSES HIDE-SHOW - Hide propeller to use Blur prop - Panels – One restored Helica has panels covering the rearmost windows. MATs o Alternate paint scheme seen in some photos o Worn versions of each scheme o Headlight and taillight glow on and off, separately (these do not affect the leadlight Light) o Alternate license tag MATs People Poses for M4 & V4 (Helica in default as-loaded position) o Driver o Passenger o M4 Start @ 1 – The Pull Starter parameter should be set to "1" to match this pose. CAMERAS Full Set - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete Helica figure in its default loaded position. Note that adjustments may be necessary depending on your document window setup. Dolly CAMs Several interior and exterior view Dolly cameras. LIGHTS o Headlight - This light (parented to the car body) must be ADDed to the scene. Otherwise it will replace any other lights. Make adjustments to the light settings as needed for your scene ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility -- Tested in DAZ Studio 4.22 to the extent that parameter controls and various figure poses work as intended. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The Helica figure loads, operates and renders in DAZ Studio. The individual license tag, headlight or taillight prop must be selected in Studio to apply the alternate tag numbers or the light ON/OFF glow MATs. The headlight Light does not work in studio as it does in Poser. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work.
