Fog Blocks 2, Copyright PixelDust1 June 21, 2024 Vendor name: PixelDust1 Product description: Since ancient times, many civilizations have legends and myths associated with fog and mist. The Fog Blocks 2 set of props uses a volumetric material resembling fog, mist or clouds to bring eight detailed blocks of fog into your scenes. Although each of the eight blocks is different, by changing its density, absorption and scattering surface properties, even a single block can take on an infinite number of appearances. The blocks can be resized and scaled along each of their axes, so it is possible to shape them to fit your vision. Similarly, you can add more than one block to your scene to form the fog to your liking. I hope these new prop models will add a splash of fun to your scenes. Happy rendering! System requirements: PC and DAZ Studio 4.20 and newer Needed files: No other files/products needed. Installation instructions: Unzip the downloaded product zip file(s) into your data, Documentation, Props, VDBs and Runtime directory/folder, as applicable. Usage tips/limitations: The Fog Blocks 2 prop models represent a 3D volume material like fog or clouds, thus there are no texture maps supplied. A DAZ Studio’s Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume Iray shader is used to display and render the models. The volumetric fog can only be viewed, other than Iray rendering, using NVIDIA Iray preview mode. Other preview modes will display the empty container box only. Feel free to change the following material shader properties: “Density Multiplier” (low value equals to low fog density, it is not recommended to go beyond 150.0-200.0 because the underlying voxelated structure of the material starts to show), “Scattering Multiplier” (amount of scattering of light within the volume, low (0.0,0.0,0.0) to high (1.0,1.0,1.0), interesting effects can be achieved if set to an R,G,B color), “Absorption Multiplier” (amount of absorption of light within the volume, low (0.0,0.0,0.0) to high(1.0,1.0,1.0), interesting effects can be achieved if set to an R,G,B color). Some of the achievable effects are shown in the product promotional images. The other Volume parameters are best left at default. IMPORTANT NOTICE: The OpenVDB MDL Volume Iray shader is part of DAZ Studio*, introduced starting with version 4.20. If your version of DAZ Studio predates that, please consider updating it in order to use Fog Blocks 2. However, on some DAZ Studio installations post version 4.20, the shader was missing for some unknown reason. DAZ Studio installs the shader as part of the “Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.XX+” using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM). If you encounter issues with missing files and you determine that there are no files in the directories/folders below*, please install the “Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.XX+” using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM). Since the files are part of DAZ Studio, I cannot provide/include those files in my product. *Relevant files located at: /Shader Presets/Iray/Daz Volume/Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume.duf /Shader Presets/Iray/Daz Volume/Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume.png /Shader Presets/Iray/Daz Volume/Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume.tip.png /data/DAZ 3D/Built-in Content/Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume/Simple OpenVDB MDL Volume.dsf Complete list of morphs: Not applicable.
