Realwings for the Ultimate Wings Realwings textures by Arki Copyrighted 10.10.2004 E-mail: realwings@feder-galerie.de I proudly introduce to you - Realwings for the Ultimate Wings Give your Ultimate Wings some real feathers to fly with! This package contains 5 complete sets of textures with seperate looks for the inner and outer sides of the wing. Taken from scans of real bird feathers some textures contain the natural featherpatterns of a female pearl cockatiel. Mixed and matched with plain feathers plus some fantasy motifs, you can put together your own look for your wings. Chose four seperate feathergroups for the inner and outer side of each wings - or simply take one of the five ready made styles to play with. Included in this package are six new wing poses, seperately for the left and right wings. As nature does not prefer symmetry, these poses are slightly asymmetrical as well for a more natural look in your renders. Either way, this will be a feathery and fluffy experience for you! *--------------------------------------------* PLEASE NOTE! The MATs for the bottom feathergroup (referred to as number 4 in the MAT-Folder) will show up as texturing the 'wrong' side of the wing in previews. But in rendering the correct side will be textured and rendered as shown in the previews. I could not figure out where this revese texturing originated from but I had to compensate with flipping the MATs! *--------------------------------------------* ~ * --------------------------------------------------------------* ~ How to play with the Real Wings... - a short manual for the use of robert.sharkey's Ultimate wings and this textureset - During testing I was asked how to apply the Ultimate wings to a figure, so I decided to include this short manual for those who are a bit lost with this wingset. Step 1: Load your base figure into the scene. That could be Vicky 3, Michael, or whatever you want to turn into a winged creature... Step 2: Load the Ultimate Wings into the scene. With Vicky 3 as base figure, they will appear to her left and right, attached to her shoulderblades, but NOT PARENTED OR CONFORMED to her! Keep this in mind as you proceed. And do NOT try to conform the wings to her. They were obviously made to be parented to whatever sort of figure you would want to use as a base. Apply the MAT from the 'Arki's Real Wings' folder '0 Wing Blank' to the left and right wing. This will make them visible, coloured white and solid. Easier to handle with what you will want to do during the next steps. Step 3: Scale the wings to a convenient size. Per default, both wings are set to 80% of their normal size. You can find this value in the properties box to the right of your document window. I tend to use a scaling about 200% to 275% of their normal size. This makes them look more majestic and substantial - but these are my personal tastes, so... chose whatever you like *g* Step 4: Translate the wings to their base position on Vicky's (or whatever figure's) back. For this, I advice you to use the auxiliary cameras of Poser. Espercially the back camera plus left and right camera. Naturally, wings would sprout from the shoulderblades, so I translate them to attach on the left and right shoulderblade, roughly centered in the middle of that bone. Note that the translations by x, y and z-axis apply to both wings for just one exception. So you could pose your left wing, select its body and copy its settings with Strg + C. Then chose the right wing's body and copy those settings by pressing Strg + V. The only value you would have to change for the right wing now would be the x-value. Simply change the positive value into a negative one or vice versa. Step 5: Parent the wings to your base figure. This is the crucial part, but not a complicated one. Select one of the wings by the body. Then chose from the top menu 'Figure' and drop down to the second option in that menu - 'Set Figure Parent...' That's what we want to do, so in the next dialogue box that opens, you will find all your figures in your scene, split up into a hierarchy of body parts. Naturally, your first figure (the base you loaded first according to step 1) will be the one you will want to parent your wings to. Chose from the hierarchy the body parts 'left Collar' and 'right Collar' for the left and right wing (so 'left Collar' for left wing and 'right Collar' for right wing, eh? Wouldn't make sense the other way around *g*). You will have to do the parenting one wing to one collar once at a time. Simply chose the corresponding body parts and then press OK. That's it. Step 6: Pose your base figure. Now you're done. You can now pose your Vicky or whatever figure you chose. The wings will follow the movements of the base figure. You may apply one of the readymade five poses to the wings now. Every distortion and collision of wing and base figure you will be able to fix after this. Simply chose the part of the wing attached to the base and rotate it along x, y and z until it fits. Step 7: Chose MATs... lights... and render! That's it! Now you're done! Simply apply a MAT to the wings or build one of your own with the partial MATs. The rest is up to you. Have fun with this package! ~ * --------------------------------------------------------------* ~ Copyright Information All of this product's content was created by Arki.
