A two room set, composed of a large entrance hall, a marble stair with ionic columns that lead to an inner reception room. Adequate antique furniture subtly decorate the set. More variety added to the inner room with update 01 (January 2005): possibility of a wider room and two new types of side walls. High care placed on the modelling, materials and lighting. Easy to apply! Only 3 figures needed to create the props (plus 3 optional figures). files reside in the folder named "Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01". Extract the zip file to your Poser 5 folder (eg c:\program files\smith micro\poser) with option "Use Folder Names" checked ON. (Note: prior of getting the lights, better delete the existing lights) For ease of use the necessary props are gathered in 3 figures. Get the figures (and included props) from the "figures" folder, then "RPublishing", then "Grand Entrance Hall" (ie from Runtime\libraries\characters\RPublishing\Grand Entrance Hall). To add each figure to the scene, select the desired figure clicking it once, and then click on the symbol with the double tick (at the bottom of the menu). Get the light sets and camera sets: from their folders Light Sets and Camera Sets and clicking within those folders "RPublishing" folder and "Grand Entrance Hall" folder. To apply different materials to the props, you have first to select the figure where the props belong to. The figures needed to build the scene are: "Hall.cr2" "Room.cr2" (or the figures that have alternate mats: "Room alternate mat A.cr2" and "Room alternate mat C.cr2") "Middle Wall and Stairs.cr2" (The Update adds a new figure "Larger and Upd Room.cr2" as alternative to the original figure "Room.cr2". The new figure, though, doesn't include chairs or tables, so you have to (manually) load those props, if you want. This figure is located in the "Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01" folder. Although you can have all props in the set simply by loading the 3 figures, you also have all the props in the respective props folder. (To get the props: from the "props" folder, then "RPublishing", then "Grand Entrance Hall" (ie from Runtime\libraries\props\RPublishing\Grand Entrance Hall). Notes: a) There are lots of materials that can alternatively applied to the props, specially the floors and walls of the inner room, since all props have already the adequate texture mapping for alternative materials. b) The figures have one prop that is the parent: usually, it is the "floor" on that figure (moving the floor will move all the props within that figure) c) This product includes several maps that can be used as backgrounds. To use them, Import>Background> and then select one of the following: sky 5 square.jpg sky6 square.jpg night.jpg d) The camera and light sets are divided in three cathegories: Room, Hall or Hall and Room. The camera sets beginning with "Room..." are meant to focus only on the inner room. For that reason, for renders with these cameras you only need to load the "Room..." figure and the "Room..." light sets. Ditto for the "Hall..." camera sets (only load "Hall..." figure and lights). For views that cover all the figures (ie, the camera sets "Hall and Room...") you'd have to load the complete scene and preferably the "Hall and Room..." ligts sets. There are several camera views that are obstructed by walls: for example, "Room 02 wo wall room 02" or "Hall and Room wo entrance 02". In this case you have to select the props that the camera set name refers to - in the example, room of the walls and entrance wall, respectively - and, uncheck Visible in the props properties. All promo pictures were made using the "Poser4 renderer" (instead of Firefly), with AntiAlias and Shadows set to ON. Note that for Firefly you may have to turn Smooth Polygons OFF (or in alternative, Smooth Polygons OFF for the desired props). Also, for better renderings, and due to the detail that some props have, you better put a lower than default value for the rendering option "Minimum Shading Rate (pixel area)". The lower the value the better the results, so something like 0.1 or 0.01 is preferred. The trade-off is a longest rendering time. The update was to maintain the original product as it was, and include the new stuff in new folders "Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01". I chose to do this way in order to "protect" the pre-update buyers. I hope it makes more sense. The objective of this update was to allow more diversity to the inner room. Now you can choose which type of side walls to use, and also you can make the inner room a bit wider. You can start by loading the 3 figures that compose the original scene. Before I describe what to do exactly to use these new objects that come with the update, I will present them sucintly: New figure (located at \Runtime\libraries\character\RPublishing\Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01\) "Larger and Upd Room.cr2" - to use instead of the "Room.cr2" (or its alternates) to make a wider room; it doesn't include the chairs and tables the "Room.cr2" figure (or its alternates) have. New props (located at \Runtime\libraries\props\RPublishing\Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01\) Firstly, I will list the new side walls, ie, those called TypeA and TypeB: "New wall typeA sideA" - one side wall, plain withouth alcove or window; optional to the original "Wall room side A". "New wall typeA sideB" - the other wall, opposite to the above mentioned; optional to the original "Wall room side B". "New frieze typeA sideA" - the frieze for the New wall typeA sideA; optional to the original "Wall room side frieze A". "New frieze typeA sideB" - the frieze for the New wall typeA sideB; optional to the original "Wall room side frieze B". "New wall typeB sideA" - one side wall, with a window; optional to the original "Wall room side A". "New wall typeB sideB" - the other wall with window, opposite to the above mentioned; optional to the original "Wall room side B". "New frieze typeB sideA" - the frieze for the New wall typeB sideA; optional to the original "Wall room side frieze A". "New frieze typeB sideB" - the frieze for the New wall typeB sideB; optional to the original "Wall room side frieze B". Now, I will list those that allow a wider inner room: "New ceiling room" - optional to the original "Ceiling room". "New wall door" - optional to the original "Wall door room". "New floor room" - optional to the original "Floor room". "New wall middle" - optional to the original "Wall middle". "New frieze for new wall door" - optional to the original "Wall opp frieze". Note that if you want to make a wider inner room, you will have to move the side walls (like the new ones "New Wall typeA sideA", etc. or the original ones "Wall room side A") like this: "New wall typeA sideA", "New wall typeB sideA" or "Wall room side A" : ZTran +8.75 "New frieze typeA sideA", "New frieze typeB sideA" or "Wall room side frieze A" : ZTran +8.75 "New wall typeA sideB", "New wall typeB sideB" or "Wall room side B" : ZTran -8.75 "New frieze typeA sideBA", "New frieze typeB sideB" or "Wall room side frieze B" : ZTran -8.75 In short, move along the Z axis +8.75 the sideA objects and -8.75 (also Z axis) the sideB objects. New lights (located at \Runtime\libraries\light\Light Sets\RPublishing\Grand Entrance Hall Upd 01\) These are: "Larger room" - based on the original "Room 06" light set, but adapted to the new dimensions of the larger room "option". "ULS 01 S" - this and the following light sets expect the set to use the new walls "TypeB", ie, the ones with the windows. "ULS 01 I" "ULS 02 S" "ULS 02 I" Again, for inside lighting, you could preferable use the new light "Larger room" light set, although due to the new spaciousness of the room, the original "Room 0x" light sets don't look bad, either.
