Click the Extract button to unzip the files. The files should be be unzipped to the correct folder locations (indicated above). Notes about the model: ------------------------ Posing To open a Poseable Book, click on any part to select it and from the list of "Current Elements" select "Body". There are two parameter dials: "Open" and Turn Page". The setting for "Turn Page" should not be set higher than the "Open" setting so that the turnable page does not stick through the receeding pages and cover. Also, the "Turn Page" dial should be return to zero before closing the book. The book can be positioned with the Body xTran, yTran, and zTran dials and rotated with the xRotate, yRotate and zRotate dials. Selecting the "Spine" and using the rotation dials is a handy way to get the book in the desired orientation. ------------------------ Changing Textures There are Preset MAT files for 6 different covers, 3 blank parchment sets, 3 content page sets and one torn turnable page in the Pose:Poseable Book MAT section of the library. Or you can load texture images for each of the Poseable Book parts (CoverFront, CoverBack, Spine, Binding, PagesFront, PagesBack, PageTurnable). The textures used in the MAT poses can be found in the Poser "Runtime/Textures/3dCritter/Book" folder. ------------------------ Animating a book Three sample Pz3 files with animation. These are located in the "Book Animations" subfolder of your Poser folder. (Note: These scene files assume that the Poseable Book files were installed to the default locations). ------------------------ Bookstand Prop The Bookstand prop is located in the Props/Furniture section of your poser library. -------------------------------------------------------- Loading Multiple Books into Poser Any model with full or partial body morphs will be affected by a problem in Poser know as "Crosstalk". Since the figures and their respective body parts are named the same, Poser treats them as the same figure, any full body morph changes made to the first copy of the figure will affect the second copy of the figure. For the Poseable Book, the "Open" and "Turn Page" dials have this same issue. One work around for this problem is to use a "Null" figure which is used while loading subsequent like figures. A null figure for the Posable book is included in the Figures:Poseable Book section of the Poser Library. Follow these steps carefully and note that these instructions are for cases where you do not intend to save a scene (.pz3) that contains multiple figures. If your intention is to save a scene with more than one Poseable Book, follow the steps outlined in the "Saving Scenes with Multiple Books". Your Poser general preferences also need to be prepped for a null to work. As installed, Poser loads a figure into the scene. First select the figure and delete it, leaving you with nothing in the scene. Then, select "General Preferences..." from the 'Edit' menu. In the dialog that appears, press the "Set Preferred State" button and click the radio button that says "Launch to Preferred State" next to it. Then hit ok. This will cause poser to load an empty scene when started. 1) Beginning with a new scene, load the null (linked above) as your first figure. You will not see anything in the scene yet, this is normal. 2) Then, from the list of "Current Figures" at the bottom left of the working window, make sure the null is selected. Its name is "Null Book". 3) From the adjacent list of "Current Elements" make sure "Body" is selected. Once selected "no actor" will appear in it's place. 4) Then "Create New Figure" (double check mark) from the library, loading your first figure with actual visible geometry. 5) For each time you add an additional figure, follow steps 2 - 5 as needed. -------------------------------------------------------- Saving Scenes with Multiple Books Although the null approach as described above does solve crosstalk for the current session, saving your work and later opening the same file (.pz3) will result in a return the crosstalk problem. ) Beginning with a new scene, load the Null Book as your first figure. 4) Then "Create New Figure" (double check mark) from the library, loading your first figure with actual geometry. 5) Make any adjustments you want to the figure at this point. Setting values for morphs, rotation, translation, etc. have no effect on the next step. 6) Then, from the list of "Current Figures" at the bottom left of the working window, make sure the null is selected. Again, Its name is "Null Book". 6) From the adjacent list of "Current Elements" make sure "Body" is selected. Remember, once selected "no actor" will appear in it's place. 7) Now "Create New Figure" (double check mark) from the library, loading another null. This null is only used as a shield, it should not be selected for loading subsequent figures. 8) With an additional null now in the scene, follow steps 2 - 8 as needed. Thank you!
