Mac: Poser 4 and Pro Pack users should use MartinC's Maconverter (www.soft-rabbit.com). Poser 5 and higher do not require file conversion. Folders may be installed according to the Zip structure, moving the files themselves where a folder of the same name already exists. Note: This product contains all files needed by any version of Poser, from version 4 to 6. You may wish to delete files not needed by your version. Use the following guide to delete folders and files. Remember, you still have all the original files in the archived Zip. Poser 4/poser Artist: \Runtime\Geometries\skypilot\ships\- Delete files ending .obz \Runtime\Libraries\character\Ships-P4\ - Delete "USS Kidd.png" \Runtime\Libraries\character\Ships-P5\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Pose\MAT BVR Ships-P5\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Props\Ships-P4\ - Delete files with "-PP" in name \Runtime\Libraries\Props\Ships-P5\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Textures\Skypilot\Ships\ - convert bump map images (see below) Pro Pack: \Runtime\Geometries\skypilot\ships\ - Delete files ending .obz \Runtime\Libraries\character\Ships-P4\ - Delete "USS Kidd.rsr" \Runtime\Libraries\character\Ships-P5\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Pose\MAT BVR Ships-P5\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Props\Ships-P4\ - Delete files with "-P4" in name \Runtime\Libraries\Props\Ships-P5\ - Delete folder Poser 5/Poser 6: \Runtime\Geometries\skypilot\ships\ - Delete files ending .obj \Runtime\Libraries\character\Ships-P4\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Pose\MAT BVR Ships-P4\ - Delete folder \Runtime\Libraries\Props\Ships-P4\ - Delete folder Folder names may be changed to remove the version designation. Character, Pose and Prop files may go in any folder under the respective categories. All other files must go where indicated. Templates: These are provided for making your own textures. Poser 4 Bump Map Conversion: The bump maps need to be converted to Poser's .bum format BEFORE loading the ship, or the depth charge props. To do this, load a simple prop like the ball. Go to Render menu--Materials. In the dialog, click on the Load button for the Bump channel. Browse to textures\Skypilot\Ships, and open the image "ddBUM1.tif." Click "Yes" when asked if you want to convert. Repeat for image "cyl-dc-BUM.tif." Delete the ball. The files may be loaded immediately, or at any later time. HOW TO USE: USS Kidd: In Figures library, category "Ships-P*" (Highlight thumbnail, then click on double-checkmark [Create new figure]) See section on ERC dials for posing instructions. MAT Poses: In Poses library, category "Ships-P*" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) Be sure the figure is selected before applying the pose. Props: In Props library, category "Ships-P*" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) Note that the K-Gun ammunition may be loaded to only the visible side of the ship, so as not to waste file size on unseen objects. Smart Props DC-Aft-P4(or -PP).pp2 loads 16 depth charges in the stern racks, all parented to the hull. Torpedos.pp2 loads 5 torpedos in the tubes, all parented to the mount. Mk6-Port-P4(or -PP).pp2 adds 12 depth charges for the K-guns on the port (left) side. Three are parented to their respective K-gun arbors, the others (in storage racks) are parented to the hull. Mk6-Stbd-P4(or -PP).pp2 adds same as above, but for starboard side K-guns. Mk9-Port.pp2 adds 12 late-style depth charges for the K-guns on the port side. Again, 3 are parented to K-gun arbors, the others to the hull. Mk9-Stbd.pp2 adds same as above, but for starboard side K-guns. ChainProp.pp2 adds an anchor chain to the port side. Use in conjunction with the Hide Anchor ERC dial to represent a dropped anchor. Flags & Signal Flags Flag At Rest.pp2 & Flag Flying.pp2 load different versions of the US flag, on the staff behind the rear stack. Jack At Rest.pp2 & Jack Flying.pp2 load different versions of the Union Jack, on the staff at the bow. A-B Flag.pp2* loads the signal flag for letters A & B, on the starboard, outboard halyard, parented to the hull. C-Z Flag.pp2* loads the signal flag for letters C-Z. NumFlag.pp2* loads the signal flag for numerals 0-9. RepeatFlag.pp2* loads the repeater flag. * Multiple copies, as needed, may be loaded, and moved to other halyards. Most signals consist of 3- or 4-flag combinations. The flags are untextured. To add the texture you want, in Poser 4, select the flag and go to Render menu--Materials. Be sure the material "Preview" is selected, and click on the "Load" button for the texture, then browse to Runtime\Textures\skypilot\SigFlags and open the image you want. The charts below show the file names, and which flag prop to use. Letter Flags Numerals & Special Flags Texturing Poser 5/6: Each signal flag has a couple of simple morphs, to shape them a bit. Use positive and negative inputs to vary identical flags, but try not to exceed 1.000 or -1.000. ERC Dials The ERC dials make it easy to control all the guns, and other parts, from the Body of the figure. This saves time, and the dials are also corrected for rotation so that moving a "Train" dial to the right always trains the gun to the right, and the "Elev" dials always elevate the barrels when dialed to the right. Gun Designations Naming The main 5-in. guns are named 5inA through E, stem to stern. The 40mm guns are named for their positions, 40BP (40mm bow/port), 40MS (40mm midship/starboard), 40A (40mm aft), etc. There are seven 20mm guns: 20P1 & 20P2 (port); 20S1 & 20S2 (starboard); 20AP, 20AM & 20AS (20mm aft/port, mid, starboard). For posing the guns from the body parts (not recommended), select parts with "gun" in the name to train, and "bbl" in the name to elevate. Other ERC Dials "Hide Anchor" hides the port anchor, for use with the Chain Prop. "LgRadar Turn" rotates the large SC radar array. "SmRadar Turn" rotates the smaller SG radar dish. "MainDir Train" rotates the main gun director, atop the wheelhouse. "MainDir Elev" elevates the main director antenna. "TorpMount Train" trains the torpedo mount. FireFly Render Engine: For best results, set maximum texture size to 2048 (Render Settings). The hull of the ship, and the 5-in. guns (5inA, 5inB, 5inC, 5inD & 5inE) should have the option "Smooth Ploygons" UNchecked on the Properties tab, if Smooth Polygons is used in the render settings. The ship should load with the boxes unchecked. UPDATE: It is strongly recommended that you uninstall the previous version of the Destroyer first. Even if you change the names of the folders to match, not all files may be overwritten, because the P5/P6 versions are compressed. Since the file names are the same, Poser will not know which thumb to display, making a choice impossible. Please refer to the File List that came with the original. Poser 4 NOTE: Be sure to delete the RSR files in \Runtime\Geometries\skypilot\ships\. These will have the same names as the OBJ files, but with the .rsr extension. These MUST be deleted in order for Poser 4 to load the new OBJ files.
