Martzahn (BeyondVR) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This set is built to get you rendering as quickly as possible, yet it is amazingly versatile. All pieces will integrate with the Tool Storage Set, Mk.2, or it can be used as a complete stand-alone product. The Impact Wrench and Side Cabinet are figures, and may have their materials changed with MAT poses. The socket sets and other props come in four separate versions: Ray trace or simpler materials, and stand-alone or loaded in the second drawer of the Tool Cabinet (sold separately) or in the Side Cabinet (included), in the case of the Impact Wrench. The four socket sets, the extensions and the u-joint have versions which load into the second drawer (drawer2) of the Cabinet of the Tool Storage Set, Mk.2. The duplicate files load the items at X=0, Z=0, and a few feet off the ground. Please read the notes below on which parts are parented to which, and the posing options of the sets. There are also notes on rendering and smoothing. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: PC/MAC, Poser 5 and above OWNERSHIP STATEMENT: All of this product's content was created by John T. Martzahn (BeyondVR). NEEDED FILES: none INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: If you use WinZip, be sure to check "Use folder names" and extract to your Poser folder, i.e., \Curious Labs\Poser 6, not the "Runtime" folder. Alternatively, drag the "Runtime" folder of the zip to your Poser folder. Character, Material, Pose and Prop files may go in any folder under their respective categories. All other files must go where indicated. USAGE TIPS/LIMITATIONS: FIGURES: In Figures library, category "Tools" or "Tools-Simple" (Highlight thumbnail, then click on double-checkmark [Create new figure]) Impact Wrench: ImpactWrench1.cr2 - Stand-alone; ImpactWrench2.cr2 - Loads onto lower shelf of Side Cabinet. For movement, it should be parented to the shelf (shelfdwn). Posing: Select body part "drive" to rotate the drive and any accessories parented to it ("TightenLoosen" dial). Select body part "trigger" to pull trigger ("Pull" dial - limited). Select body part "AdjustWhl" to turn the power adjustment wheel ("Turn" dial - limited). Select body part "LeftRightSw" to move the switch that reverses the wrench ("TightenLoosen" dial - limited). Side Cabinet: The Side Cabinet loads next to the Tool Cabinet, if present, and may be parented to it (see below) Posing: Select body part "door" to open door ("Open" dial - limited). Select body part "lock" to turn lock and key, if present ("Unlock-Lock" dial - limited). Select body part "shelfup" to move upper shelf ("Up-Down" dial - limited). Select body part "shelfdwn" to move lower shelf ("Up-Down" dial - limited). Parenting Figures: Select the figure body, then go to Figures menu--Set figure parent. The ImpactWrench should be parented to shelfdwn of the SideCabinet. The SideCabinet should be parented to frame of the ToolCabinet. PROPS: In Props library, category "Tools" or "Tools-Simple" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) Prop Options: Props found in the "Tools" folder (this set's thumbnails have a GREEN background) have materials that require ray tracing and displacement mapping to look their best. Props in the "Tools-Simple" folder have materials that do not require ray tracing, and use bump maps instead of displacement. Each folder contains two versions of each prop: the first, ending with the numeral "1," is for stand-alone use; the second, ending with the numeral "2," will load into the second drawer (drawer2) of the Tool Cabinet of the Tool Storage Set, if present. The "2" files are additionally identified by a red star and the words "IN DRAWER" in the lower left corner. Parenting Hierarchy: Each prop is a set of parented props, as explained below. In the case of props which load into the drawer, the main prop is parented to the drawer.: ImpactUjoint - The prop "ImpUjoint1" is the parent. Prop "ImpUjoint2" can only be rotated on X & Z axes (limits). ImpactExtensionSet - The main prop is "ExtBox" and the case (ExtCase) and lid (ExtLid) are parented to it. The two extensions are parented to the case, so it may be removed with the props intact, and used without the carton. MetricDeepImpactSockets - Hierarchy as above, using names mDbox, mDcase & mDlid. Prop "mDcase" has all eight sockets parented to it. StdDeepImpactSockets - Hierarchy as above, using names usDbox, usDcase & usDlid. Prop "usDcase" has all eight sockets parented to it. MetricImpactSockets - The main prop is "Mscktcase." The lid (Mscktcaselid) and the eight sockets are parented to it. StdImpactSockets - The main prop is "Scktcase." The lid (ScktCaseLid) and the eight sockets are parented to it. To UNparent any prop, go to Objects menu--Change parent. In the dialog that comes up, select "Universe," and click OK. Socket Sizes: Metric - 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm Standard - 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 13/16", 7/8", 15/16" Additional Smart Props: ImpactHandgrip.pz2 - Optional rubber handgrip for Impact Wrench Key-SideCab.pz2 - Key for Side Cabinet (select body part "lock" to turn both) 18vBattery.pz2 - Spare battery for Impact Wrench These props have only one version in each folder. POSES: In Poses library, category "\BeyondVR\Tools\P5 Simple or P5 RayTrace" (Select the intended figure, highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) There are MAT Poses for the figures, ImpactWrench and SideCabinet. Those under "P5 Simple" have simple materials, and use bump maps. Those under "P5 RayTrace" have the default materials, and are there just to change back if desired. They may be used by Poser 5 and above. There are three optional color schemes for the Side Cabinet, to match the options of the Tool Storage Set. MATERIALS: In Materials library, under "\BeyondVR\Tools\PowerTools\P5 Simple or P5 RayTrace" (Select material from dropdown, then highlight new material thumbnail and click on checkmark.) The materials are available only in the Materials room. Since the props come in specific versions, there is no need for extensive materials. The only material included is for the material "brass" of the key. This is so you may use it to match the keys of the Toolbox and Tool Cabinet, if you own them, to match the Side Cabinet's key. The one under "P5 RayTrace" is on the Side Cabinet key by default. The one under "P5 Simple" matches the simpler version, and the older keys. Rendering (FireFly): The props and figures have been saved with Smooth Polygons turned off. They will load that way in Poser 6 and above, but will need to have the "Smooth Polygons" box unchecked on the Properties tab in Poser 5, if polygon smoothing is enabled in the render settings. The few chrome parts need an environment to reflect, in order to look their best. Enclosing the scene in a "room," or using some type of dome, are the common solutions. This also enhances the look of most the other default textures. Important: "Raytracing" and "Use Displacement Maps" must be enabled for the default materials. The simple materials use the bump channel instead, and do not require raytracing.
