System requirements: PC/Mac. Poser 5 or greater. This product will not work in DAZ|Studio. To install this product to your Poser Runtime, unzip the archive to your main Poser folder. The Planet Suite is a collection of medium and high polygon 3D planets and celestial bodies. There is an Earth-like layered planet with separate surface, clouds and atmosphere, a sun, a moon, a generic planet with no atmosphere, a ringed planet, an asteroid, an entire asteroid field and a star field. The medium polygon models should be adequate for most work, but if you need to get really close to a planet, the high poly versions are there. Each model is presented as a figure, so they are all available from the one library palette. There are plenty of planetary material presets supplied, and if you know anything about the material room, it should not be too difficult to modify the supplied ones to create your own. There are almost no bitmap textures used, except for the planetary rings. Normally when mapping planets, you need enormous bitmaps if you want to get the camera anywhere near the objects. The bitmaps used for the planetary rings are tiny, but due to the way the rings were modelled, you can still get the camera as close as you want without having to worry about the textures falling apart. All the planetary surfaces consist entirely of Poser shader nodes and will not fall apart, no matter how close you need to move the camera to them. The materials are in .mt5 format and available in the material room palette. There are no MAT poses, as selecting material presets from the material room palette is a simple process, and the objects only have between one and three surfaces each. Lighting these planets is pretty straightforward. If you want the most realistic deep space look, use one infinte light and colour and rotate it to taste. You may want to set the shadow value to slightly less than 1, if you don't want the shadows to become totally black. Make sure you use raytraced shadows, not shadow maps! Shadow maps will not, no matter how high you set them, be able to give you accurate shadows on these large objects.
