====================================================================== ************************************************************ *Product Name: Spirit Sorceress for V4 *Copyright 15/1 2011 *By: Gustaf and Kimberly Grefberg *Contact: Renderosity sitemail ************************************************************ Spirit Sorceress is a dynamic fantasy dress for Victoria 4. It's a detailed dynamic cloth with displacement maps that add thickness and detail. It comes in different resolutions, with draping morphs and a ton of materials. 3 resolutions are available: Normal resolution Triangulated High resolution (A fairly fast computer is recommended) 3 draping morphs are available: Bust More fabric for the bust Skirtlonger Longer skirt Skirtshorter Shorter skirt Several kinds of materials and shaders are included as follows: Cotton Rough Worn Satin Gold Alchemy -------------------------------------- System Requirements: Poser 6 or higher Victoria 4 by Daz3d -------------------------------------- Ownership Statement: All of this product's content was created by Gustaf, Ylva and Kimberly Grefberg --------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip the files into your poser directory. The clothing items can be found under props and then Whimsysmiles. The materials can be found under materials and then Whimsysmiles. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: ************************** * Cloth Room quick start * ************************** This quick start breaks down the process into simple steps how to use the dress in the cloth room. It is not a full poser cloth room tutorial. If you are a beginner it should be enough to get you started, and if you are a more advanced user it should help you find the right settings and some good tips. 1. Load Victoria 4. 2. On frame, keep her in zero pose, without any morphs loaded. Make sure to turn Inverse Kinematics off, found in the Figure menu. if she is not in the zero pose, go to Joint editor and choose "Zero rotations". If you have loaded Victoria fresh, you don't need to do this step. 3. This clothing starts a little bit different than normal. Victoria's arms should be down 45 degrees. You can either do this manually, by selecting Right Shoulder, and then moving Up-Down to 45 degrees. Then select Left Shoulder and move Up-Down to -45 degrees. Both arms should be down 45 degrees, matching the dress. You can also go into poses, whimsysmiles, spiritsorceress and load the starting pose from there. 3. Somewhere between frame 15-20 (Or more if you feel its needed), put Vicky in the final pose that you want. Here you can also load or apply any custom V4 morphs that you want, that alters her body one way or the other. (Including other Daz characters like Aiko 4, The Girl 4, or Stephanie 4.) The cloth simulation needs to start with in the starting pose in the first frame, so that the dress can drape or stretch into the final frame. 4.(IMPORTANT!) Before you load any of the clothing props, make sure you have Vicky selected. Then load the dress. Now, the dress is parented to Victoria, so if you scale Victoria, the dress is scaled as well. This can be very useful. The dress can stretch, if you scale victoria down down in size in the starting pose, and be normal in size in the final pose. If you have loaded a pose and morphs in the final frame, there is already a keyframe here, so all you have to do is to scale victoria down a bit in the starting pose. Make sure you have victoria's BODY selected when doing this. 5. Go to "New Simulation" and set the desired amount of frames. Usually this is the same number as your final pose frame. Even though it's not necessary, setting up some drape frames, 10-15 is recommended. This will make the rest of the simulation faster, and more stable. NOTE! If you use any draping frames, you need to uncheck "start draping from zero pose" in the next step when you go to the "Collide against" box. Also, make sure to have "Cloth self collision" turned on, it will make the skirt and sleeves drape better. 7. Then select "Collide against", and as collision object choose Victoria 4. You can choose her whole body, or to speed up the simulation a bit, check the ignore head and hand collection boxes. A good collision offset value is somewhere between 0.300-0.400. Collision distance is usually good around the same values. As mentioned in the previous step, if you are using any draping frames, "start draping from zero pose", must be unchecked, or you will end up with some very weird results. 8. In the DYNAMICS CONTROLS, you can experiment with fold resistance (and of course other value), to give the fabric some more creases, or decrease it to make the material a little bit tougher. Values between 0.5 to 3.0 are pretty good, depending on the results you are after. A low fold resistance looks better with the high resolution version. When you have everything set up the way you like click "Calculate Simulation" For tweaking the cloth simulation, look into the sections below for some tips. *********************************** * Using parented scale * *********************************** The dress come parented to Victoria 4. This means that if you move or scale her, the dress will follow. Now, if you scale her in the starting pose, it will affect the cloth simulation. (Just make sure that she is scaled to normal/100% in your final pose) For example, if you want the dress to stretch or fit tighter in the final pose, just scale vicky down. When you do this scaling, make sure to have Victoria's BODY selected. This is very useful if you want the dress to fit tightly to your character, very useful if you have a character which is a lot more thin than the default shape. ***************** * The Morphs * ***************** If you want a different result for your simulation, here are some morphs below: Bust More fabric for the bust. Useful if your character has a bigger bust but you want to retain a natural, flowy drape. Skirtlonger If your character is taller, or if you want the skirt to go all the way down to the floor, experiment with this setting. Skirtshorter If you want a shorter skirt, play around with this morph. Please note that extreme values may stretch the texture. 1. Before you apply any morphs, make sure to reset the simulation 2. Run the simulation. 3. If you wish to adjust the object further, reset, adjust the morphs, and run the simulation again. 5. Sometimes the morph is doubled upon the end of the simulation, it happens more commonly in earlier versions of Poser. If you are using a fully patched Poser 7 or up this shouldn't happen often. If it does however, just select the affected morphs and reset them on frame 1 (Click on the little arrow on the right and choose reset) The end result will now look as it should, the doubled morph removed. Make sure that only the starting/zero frame has morphs on the garment! If there are keyframes in any of the other poses, delete them. You can do this by opening the graph by each morph and removing any keyframes that shouldn't be there. ***************** * Resolutions * ***************** The dress comes in three different resolutions: Normal This works for most cases Triangulated In some cases, triangles drape better than quads, so this one is made available. Highres This is a very high resolution cloth, over 40.000 polygons. You can get very detailed results, but a fast computer, and/or patience may be needed! ***************** * Material Room * ***************** Applying materials is easy. Go into the material room, into the Whimsysmiles folder and into the Spiritsorceress folder. Just click on a material and it's applied all the zones. ***************** * Render tips * ***************** Make sure to render with displacement maps on in the render options. If you think that the displacement map is too strong or too weak, you can also adjust their strength in the material room (advanced tab) Just make sure to adjust it in all the zones. ************************ * General Stuff * ************************ If you wish to make your own textures, you will find an UV map called "Sorceress_UV.jpg" where the rest of the textures are stored.
