Mystic Topaz Layer Styles Copyright ©Roberta Dugan/fractalartist01 September 2011 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During a recent online shopping trip, I came across a gem that I had never seen before: Mystic Topaz. I was mesmerized by the variety and different combinations of rainbow colors and kaleidoscope shapes contained inside these crystal clear-based topaz stones! I was determined to create a layer styles set inspired by these hybrid stones. many seemed to have an iridescent quality to them. This set is my attempt to mimic their colorful beauty. Lots of clear candy-colored rainbows, gradients and faceting went into the creation of this new set of 24 Layer Styles-designed to be used in Photoshop 7 & Above. And even though I have included lots of examples of different ways to use these styles on the product example pages that follow, I am certain you will continue to be inspired to make new creations with your own designs. Because these styles are created with seamless patterns and can be rescaled easily, you will be able to use them for many of your more fancy gems, jewels, frames, borders, etc.-both for the web and for printing. Combine with a few gold, silver or colored metallic gem settings and you will have all the ingredients you need to create some beautifully-blinged designs! Or you can access this command from the Layers palette by right-clicking on the small layer effects symbol (looks like an f) on your layer, then choosing the Scale Effects command. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) When you choose Scale Effects, the dialog box "Scale Layer Effects" will appear. You can reduce the scale down as low as 1% to make the effects smaller, or increase the scale up to 1000% to make the effects larger. This re-scales every effect used in the Layer Style at once...OR you can just remove/add a shadow, add a stroke or inner bevel, change the pattern scale size, etc. *Checking the "Preview" box will allow you to see as you're adjusting.* --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) So the next time you download some layer styles and find they don't look quite the same on your own images as they did in the examples, try scaling the effects and see if it makes a difference. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File List: [Folder name] Documentation [File names] License.txt Mystic_Topaz_readme.txt [Folder name] Mystic_Topaz_fractalartist01 [File names] MysticTopaz_fractalartist01.asl MysticTopaz_Main_fractalartist01.jpg Total number of folders = 2 Total number of files = 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Copyright notice: You CAN use these styles to create/style any NEW personal or commercial works.
