-------------------------------------- Product Name: Priory of the Steam Copyright 01-31-2012 (c) Robert Blanda By: Robert Blanda Contact: Cybertenko -------------------------------------- System Requirements: PC, Poser 6 and higher, (not tested on MAC, need minor adjustments in DAZ studio) -------------------------------------- Product Description: Priory of the Steam is headquarters of one of the most famous machinist orders from the early to late XIX century. Such orders supported development of steam technologies, modern machineries and industry itself. The gathered strong support to any inventors and enterpreneurs, studied and maintain their inventions and promote them among public. The initialy built their convents at remote places to have enough space and other ocindition for their purposes but soon they moved closer to cities and others aglomerations. Priory of the Steam was also residence of head of the order - The Grandmaster and his fellow brothers. Their living quarters were situated at the main building, called The Lodge. There was also main assembly hall, many workshops and warehouses. Lodge was also equiped with tall tower with boarding ramp so the heads of the order can attend to gatherings directly from their airships. The second most important building was The Machine Hall where were located the heaviest machines and machineries. Usualy several steam engines were displayed here, often at glass houses at the roof so it will be visible from far away. Next building - The Rotonda was the strongest structure at the abode and so it was used for studing dangerous or experimental technologies, like in our case - primitive fusion reactor known as "ministar". The bigest building at the priory was enormous water tank, called The Aquarium, which served as water reserve for steam production. Since the water was considered as noble materia as The Steam itself, it was made from glass panels so the water can be visible. The water inside was mostly rusted, since this was considered the most distinguished state of water aside The Steam. Between the buildings were erected many various monuments to famous inventors, or other great men and women. Architecture of the priory uses the same principles as other similar masonry - mostly large blocks of stone, steel or iron armtures and other fortifing elements, glass panels and so on. Wood was used very seldom since it was considered as lower material. You will find the items in Cameras, Light, Pose and Props folders named Priory of Steam. Geometries, Textures and Reflection Maps are stored in respective folders. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: Priory of the Steam Product belongs to the serie of Steampunk Castle Construction Kit. It share the same visual style as my other products like Steampunk Street, Steampunk Cathedral and both Steampunk Castle Construction Kits (1 - Old Donjon and 2 - Steam Plant) so using all products together is well intended and works well. Also my other products like Airship Cabin and Airship Hull or Balloon Victoria can be used with all these products very well. Using of Priory of the Steam is quite easy and quite similar as use of my other construction kits or poser playsets productsa. Using of these items depends on your personal preferences. There are three main workflow styles for using these items: Instant Play Instant Play is the best choice if you need to build scenery quickly and just out of the box. Just select some or all given prop presets and load them in any order. You will get the Priory as it looks on the promo pictures. Each scenic Preset (Lodge, Machine Hall, Rotonda, Aquarium or Terrace) consists from various independent objects - props which are parented to its logical parent or to main Preset Parent which is labeled BASE. So if you need to move the whole some part of complex, just select the BASE prop (which is the main parent for its preset) and move it. If you need to move only some subsequent part, find its local parent and move that. Please use the Poser hierarchy editor, where you can see all props parented into groups and where you can either fold or unfold the groups to your liking and for the most clarity. For the best render result you can choose provided light presets. Further you can use any skydome prop (which probably needs be scaled up) and any terrain. Priory Terrace is made high enough to stands above any flat or moderately morphed terrain. This convene also to builders intention - so the building itself will not conform to any given terrain irregularites but insted it will stretch over any landscape with their own needs and preferencies. Model and textures are suitable for long distance shots as well as for closeups. For closeups shots you may need to lower some texture map bumps since these are set for medium to long distances on higher values. All windows (which are also independent objects) use the high ambience value, so it will glow in low density lightning. Priory of the Steam includes several movable or variable items. In Rotonda preset you will find turnable and tiltable spolight prop (with optional parented lightbeam prop). Each spotlight part is parented to its other logical parent while the movement is controlable by dials. For the tilting of spotlight are set the limits so the cable prop will not stray off the light, but for distant shots you can switch the limits off by double clicking the dial. Steam Engines are made as static props and no movable part is on them. Other items are made as variable - Aquarium for example can be made without central shaft, or without liquid prop, main tower can be used with or without zeppelin boarding ramp, terrace walls and balustrades can be moved to different location or regrouped. Modify The second workflow style presumes you will load the premade presets and want the slightly or considerably modify it, edit it… It is midway style between instant play and building from scratch, since you will use most of presets configuration but you will alter it according to your needs. You can for example delete some part of preset (such as towers, gangplanks, armature plates and so on.) You may also need to duplicate some feature, such as windows, doors, turrets and so on. For example, if you need to build non-fantasy – non steampunk type of building, you can just delete all steampunk style stuff like pipes, armatures, and so on. For duplicating features like windows you can do so at… For parented props you will be asked if you want duplicate also the parent, which may or may not help you with placement of cloned prop. Choose either possibility according your actual need. For placing or moving the props may be better to use orthogonal cameras which will help you more precisely place the item. You can resave sour modified presets to the library for next use. Build from Scratch Building from scratch is possibly the most creative work with any construction set content items. With Priory of the Steam as well as with other Steampunk Castle Construction Kit Sets you can built wide array of interesting fantastic of historical correct structures. You will start with loading any presets and choosing its individual parts for resaving. This way you can make your own presets or semi-presets used for further building. For building from scratch you generally use all guidelines provided above, but you definitely use more creativity. The best is probably either load some of provided preset and then cannibalize it – delete parts you don’t need and resave the rest or just choose parts you like and these save into library. You can thus make your own presets or semi-presets and then use them for your own projects. In such work you are limited only by your imagination and fantasy. Most of objects are closed boxes so you can rotate them, translate and intersect with any other objects. You can even resize them, but be frugal and do not stretch it too much otherwise the textures will look bad. If you do so, you can use some procedural materials for which the stretching of UVs is not a problem. Don’t forget, you can use only a part of objects and the rests you can hide into terrain, into other objects or even out of camera view. You can use some objects in totally different way. Doors and windows are modeled as deeper boxes, so you can sink them into surface as far as needed, just be sure, the surface of the glass (usually the “blindglass” material) is still visible. All windows are set to glow in low density lightning by using their ambient attribute. Included are several scenic props like walls, balustrades, fountain, monuments or even all of the machineries. These can be used alone for any other projects of yours. Model is completely UV mapped. For certain parts of models are provided texture templates, other material zones are textured by procedural materials or by tiled textures and templates are not aplicable for them. Tiled textures and procedural materials may need adjustments in DAZ studio, Carrara or or other 3d applications. All poser props have extracted geometry to obj. mesh files which you can use for importing to other modeling or rendering application. One or more textures on this 3D model have been created with images from CGTextures.com. These images may not be redistributed by default, please visit www.cgtextures.com for more information. -------------------------------------- Files Included in the Product: \Documentation license.txt Priory_of_the_Steam_README.txt \Promos main promo.jpg Priory of the Steam 1 CONCEPT.jpg Priory of the Steam 2 FEATURES.jpg Priory of the Steam 3 FEATURES.jpg Priory of the Steam 4 FEATURES.jpg Priory of the Steam 5 FEATURES.jpg Priory of the Steam 6 FEATURES.jpg Priory of the Steam 7 LIGHTS.jpg Priory of the Steam 8 INTEGRATION.jpg Priory of the Steam 9 EXAMPLES.jpg thumb.jpg \Runtime\Geometries\Priory of Steam AQUA liquid.obj AQUA shaft.obj armature.obj armature_0.obj armature_1.obj balustradeL.obj balustradeM.obj balustradeS.obj banner.obj base aquarium.obj BASE Lodge.obj BASE Tower.obj big window.obj boarding.obj Boilers.obj boilers_0.obj bollards.obj buttress.obj corridor.obj cupola.obj emblem.obj engine H.obj engine V.obj factorywindow.obj fountain.obj glasshouse.obj glasshouse_0.obj holder.obj ladder.obj lightbeam.obj machine hall.obj monument01.obj monument02.obj monument03.obj piedestal.obj pipe1.obj pipe2.obj pipe3.obj pipe4.obj pipes.obj portal.obj portico.obj pylon.obj reactor.obj rotonda.obj sculpture.obj ship window.obj sidehall.obj simple door.obj small portal.obj spotlight.obj stairs.obj stand.obj terblock.obj terblock_Mirror.obj thermalwindow.obj Tower.obj turbine.obj turret.obj wall L.obj wallM.obj wallseg.obj \Runtime\Libraries\Camera\Priory of Steam 01.cm2 01.png 02.cm2 02.png 03.cm2 03.png 04.cm2 04.png 05.cm2 05.png 06.cm2 06.png 07.cm2 07.png 08.cm2 08.png 09.cm2 09.png 10.cm2 10.png 11.cm2 11.png 12.cm2 12.png 13.cm2 13.png 14.cm2 14.png 15.cm2 15.png 16.cm2 16.png 17.cm2 17.png 18.cm2 18.png 19.cm2 19.png 20.cm2 20.png \Runtime\Libraries\Light\Priory of Steam PRIORY -
